Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I was in an abusive relationship with my (now) ex-husband. I turned to food as a way of dealing with it. I began to try different diets and exercise programs, but the pain in my joints, my back problems and being constantly winded left me depressed and that led to me eating more. In 2002 I began to research RNY GBS . After a year of research and talking with several different doctors I decided that this was the best way for me to go.

Hello Again!
on February 11, 2012 6:42 am
Hello Again! I was a member here from 2005 to 2007. I had my RNY GBS on January 25, 2006. I weighed 286 on the day of my surgery and within 8 months I was at goal. By 3 years out my weight hit it's all time low of 110 pounds. I was very unhealthy and was barely eating anything. I feel that the stress of being in a very abusive marriage (my ex rang in 2009 by branding my left hand so that if I ever left him and remarried my new husband would know that I would always "belong" to my ex.) and then finally getting the courage to leave him in Sept of '09 caused me to get into a VERY unhealthy eating pattern. i feel it was no coincidence I lost the exact same amount that my ex husband weighed.
I reconnected with my high school sweetheart through Face book and on June 25, 2011 we were married. My (now) 15 year old twin sons walked me down the aisle and call Ant their step dad. (They HATED him in the begining of our relationship and blamed him for the divorce even though they knew that their father abused me terribly. )6 days after the wedding we moved from Vermont back to Bucks County Pa. (Where Anthony and I grew up) The boys initially had a hard time adjusting to the move and from being away from their father, and now call PA their home. We encouraged them to go out for the same sports they played in VT. Just a month and a half after our move they made the JV football team at their school . Ian had to quit due to an ankle injury and Bill was ordered by our doctor to sit out the last 1/4 of the season due to repeated concussions. Now they play basketball and they are their teams highest scorers! In the spring Bill will go out for Baseball. Ian is still unsure if he wasn't to continue with base ball. (They have played baseball for the past 8 years.)
Anyway, since Anthony and I started seeing each other, he encouraged me to get back up to a healthy weight. Once I started to put on the weight, I just couldn't stop. When I hit my post op highest weight off 211 pounds(356 pounds above my surgeons goal of 175 for me) I rejoined OH on 2/9/2012 and in the first 3 days I have lost 5 pounds! I am very grateful for the support of OH and it's members. I will not leave this site again because when I left it I slipped in to VERY unhealthy eating habits.
