Surgeon Testimonial

Michael P. Hocking M.D.
I met Dr. Hocking 6 yrs ago. I was not to sure fo the surgery at that time. But, this past yearI've had more back, knee and other health problems. When I remet Dr.Hocking I was more impressed with him and I' glad that I decided that now was the time. The office staff were all kind and informative when I went in Dec.2000 for my appointment.
Dr. Hocking does not push people to go for surgery. He lets you take your time and get the mental, emotional and physical thoughts together.
I surgery scheduled for 2/28/01. Cann't wait to get in and over with.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I did the usual yoyo dieting. Lose 12-20 lbs and gain all back plus some more. Emotions were at the extreme limits of no patience at all

06/23/01 Hi all well I'm down 65 lbs and have lost a lot of inches. Went from a 3x top and 4x shorts to an 18/20 top and a size 20 shorts. Boy is that a nice change. So I may not have lost a lot of weight but I have made up for it in inches lost. My energy level is up and I feel like chaseing the kids around the house again.

Cynthia, I am very happy you are on the other side! Congrats!! I am worried from what you said that you may not be getting enough help...Tell your husband that my Dr. said that this surgery is an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. Just below heart bypass surgery!!! If I had a majic wand, I would wave it to produce a fairy god mother to help you! Best wishes...

Plateau WT
on March 1, 2007 10:25 am
Well gang it has been 6 yrs since my surgery and I feel great.  I have been at a plateau weight since 2002 of between 185 to 190 lbs.  Which is what I weighed when I was 18-21yrs.  When I had my surgery I was weighing in at 300-310lbs, I have been able to keep this weight off and was able to cut the number of medications down from 20 to 7 pills daily.  I still have to take  vit., b/p, and anxiety meds.  but I can live with them.  I no longer have the sleep apnea!!!!!
One problem that I do have is absorption of iron, I now have Iron Deficenct Anemia.  But again this is something that I can live with.  I go every 6 months for blood work, and about every 2 to 3 yrs for Iron infusions.   But, I can keep up with my children that are in their teens now!!!!  Yes one is 18 and the other is 15 so you know that I have to keep going with them just to keep an eye on them!!!!  LOL
