Surgeon Testimonial

Arthur B. Chasen, M.D.
I first met Dr. Chasen when I moved to GA in 2007. I was almost 4 years post open RNY and trying to find a support group where I would learn something new and get motivated to get back on track; I had gained 20 pounds and really needed some guidance. I was very surprised to find a bariatric surgeon that was providing in-person teaching every month and even sticking around for questions! On top of all that, he was open to dealing with patients who had surgery elsewhere. It was clear that this doctor was totally invested in his patients. After attending support group meetings for a few months, I found what I needed and got back on track. By getting back to basics and returning to the accountability that a support group provides, I was able to lose all of my regained weight, plus more! Dr. Chasen was absolutely correct when he told me (after testing) that I didn’t need to have a surgical fix, just a better thought process, followed by action. I can’t say enough about the level of support and caring that Dr. Chasen provides. His honest, caring and no nonsense approach has been a blessing. In addition to all the other great things, I know I have made some life-long friends at the support group.rnrnMy original surgeon was Dr. Darwin Zahn in Phoenix, AZ. Dr. Zahn was absolutely wonderful and saved my life in many ways. If Dr. Zahn hadn’t retired, I would still be recommending him to everyone in his area, he was a wonderful surgeon!rn

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
Ive always been fat. I dont ever remember a time in my life where food was not comfort or the center of celebration. I tried everything I could think of to lose weight including emotional extortion. I was great at losing weight but it never stayed off. I cant even begin to estimate the number of times over the years that I have lost 50+ pounds only to gain back 75. It was a pretty vicious cycle both physically and emotionally.
