Today was the day...
on February 28, 2013 4:48 pm

Today was the day I officially put my walker in the basement storage. No more walker for me!!

It was one of my goals. To be rid of that thing.  I'm now 6 months out and 83 lbs down.

It's been a wild ride so far.  38 lbs to go!

Down 65 lbs, and I'm 4 months post-op as of December 27.

I'm now wearing a size L-XL on the top (no more plus sizes) and a size 18 on the bottoms (but that is starting to feel big).

Post-Op Update
on September 23, 2012 6:57 am
Surgery went well on Aug 27.  I was to go home on Aug 29 but I was kept in an extra day because of rectal bleeding.  Old blood but lots and lots of it.  My hemogloben went down 25 points from 116 to 91.  At about 3 pm on Aug 30 they told me I could go home. The surgeon said it 'might' happen again but unlikely.  So home I go.  At 6:30 pm that same day I'm passing blood. Same dark old stuff.  And again the next morning so I haul my butt to Emergency for about 8 hours.  They ran blood tests and hooked me up to a Saline solution.  My hemoglobin was back up to 101 so they said I'm not bleeding from any leaks or problems that it really was just from surgery and they sent me home.  It never happened again.

That was Wed through Friday.  I still had the most horrible pain by the left incision where they put the camera.  On a scale of 1-10 it was about a 15.  Surgeon said they are none too gentle with the camera as they have to see what they have to see but that it would go away. Everyone is different as to how long it stays.  Mine stayed just shy of 4 weeks.  WORSE than childbirth.  The one day, it was really sore and then I noticed by about 7 pm that evening it was gone. So othat is one issue down.

The other issue is all about bowels.  OMG.....One week after surgery to the date I had the worse constipation!  13 hours!!  The pain from the incision hurt worse and I couldn't push because it was sooo painful.  After the Milk of Mag and suppositories I finally got relief at about 1 am.  What an experience!  I've had a couple of constipation episodes since but now that I have the MoM and suppositories I can clear it up quickly.  But still.   I will be 4 weeks post-op tomorrow and I've needed 'help' with getting the turtle out the gate at least once a week.  The problem isn't that I don't have the urge or I'm not going, the problem is that I basically do but the turtle makes it to the gate, or slightly out the gate but then goes no where.  Drives me crazy.  Surely this will eventually straighten itself out!!  I get all my water and vitamins in, I get my 60+ gr of protein in and some fibre.  Any ideas would be great!!
