Surgeon Testimonial

Andrew G.Hargroder
I love Dr. Hargroder. They are wonderful people. He does group sessions with people on Friday mornings and then meets with everybody individually. He really takes his time to explain everything and answer any and all questions. Mrs. Cindy is a doll. She does whatever she can to help. A+++ To everybody there!

Hey Yall'!  My name is Chelsie, but people call me Chel or Chels.  I live out in the Country in Louisiana.  I have been "heavy" all my life.  When I was 17, I was driving home from school and I had a migraine hit me.  I have not been a day without a headache since then.  Three years after that day I went to Houston, TX to see Dr. Matthews.   He dianosed me with Pseudotumor Cerebri with a mild form of Chiari Malformation.  The Pseudotumor is where fluid builds up in around the brain from the spinal column because it has no where else to go.  I get spinal taps ofter to relieve the pressure.  The Chiari is where the vein going to the brain is malformed, which causes the fluid to build up..lol.  In January of this year I was diagnosed with Insulin Resistance And Polysytic (sp?) Ovarian Syndrome.  The doctor said that I will never loose with with the insulin resistance and that this is the reason that I am overweight.  So here I am getting the surgery to hopefully resolve alot of these problems..

It's getting there...

So today I went in for my pre-op workup... It was an eye-opener. You get the usual blood work and X-Rays with the lovely Barium an EKG and a respitory test thing.  I got a 103 and you had to have an 80.  So I passed that for sure.  I talked with the dietician today..that's what made me stop and go..woah...It really made me come to terms of what my life is going to be like.  I was reading a post a while ago and the woman was talking about how before surgery your life revolved around food and the surgery was supposed to help with it.. Well it seems that my life is still going to revolve around food.  What I can and can't eat, how much, what's in it, am I getting enough, yadda yadda.  It just made me think and made me start to get nervous.  Do I still want to do it.  yes.  I wan't to loose weight and be healthy and having surgery is the only way that that is going to be possible.  I just know that I am going to need support and help through all of this.
On a lighter note, I went and took my clerical test yesterday and passed it, so now I'm going to try and put in my application with the school board.
