Surgeon Testimonial

Vivek Prachand, M.D., F.A.C.S.
What was your first impression of him/her? rnHe was very caring and thoroughly examined and explained my options. He did not push or pull toward one procedure over the other but he RECOMMENDED gastric bypass...he taylors it to your needs, abilities, and health status at the time of consultation.rnrnHow did your impression change over time? rnIt hasn't thus far...rnrnHow would you describe his/her office staff?rnJune Spight is THE BEST! Actually, everyone is really sweet but I've worked more closely with June throughout my process.rn rnWhat did you like least about him/her? rnWhat didn't I like? What does that even mean...rn:)rnrnrnHow much does he/she emphasize aftercare? rnEmpahsize on aftercare is crucial and they stress it often and repetitively so that we are able to understand how important follow the directions of your surgeon and staff are.rnrnDoes he/she have a structured aftercare program? rnHow did he/she address the risks of surgery? rnThe staff makes sure you are well aware of the benefits and the risks via classes, support groups (if you are able to attend), online videos and information, and face-to-face consultations and videos. They also make you go to myemmi.com to watch a movie about the procedure.rnrnHow would you rate him/her overall? rnOut of a highest possible 10 and a lowest possible 0, I rate him a perfect TEN pre-op..rnrnWhich is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great? rn

I would like to thank all of you that offered me information and support throughout this difficult process.

...my BMI went from 45 to 25.66...I just can't believe it...

...AND MY HUSBAND IS LOVIN IT...hee hee

So don't forget to wish me a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" today!!

By the way...I've lost 89 whole pounds (as of 10/23/2008)....YIPPEE!!

Doing Well...
on October 8, 2008 7:30 am

Hello everyone. I just wanted to check back in and thank everyone that sent supportive comments about my first post. I really appreciate all the advice and warmth that everyone expressed. I must report that I am doing much better since then. There were a number or underlying situations and emotions that brought me to that "emotional wreck of a place" but through communicating with you all and some family, I've come to realize those problems and am working them out...we are all still trying to work out the kinks right? Thanks again for all your help and support guys and dolls. I love you all.

"Something's Going On"
on September 23, 2008 7:01 am

Well folks, this is officially my first personal "blog" entry and it's not an exciting one. I think I am going through something ya'll. I don't know what it is; I can barely explain but at least I am acknowledging it. For the past week, I have been waking up every morning at 4:30-ish (a.m. of course) and weeping like it's nobody's business. I usually go through this for however long then I go through it again right before I wake my children up, and yet again after everyone has left the house...oy vey! I know that I am going through something because the other morning I woke up wanting to speak to and be comforted by my Mom or Dad (both deceased.) I don't know what's going on with me.
