Hi! I am 41 and have been married to my sweet husband for 19 years. I have 2 beautiful daughters, 12 and 15. I used to teach 1st grade before I had kids and now teach pre-K 3 days a week .
Well, surgery went fine, but I was one of the "lucky" ones that had intense nausea and dizziness the first 2 days. After that it got better each day. I am still having such a hard time getting in liquids and protein. I am just not hungry and my tastes seem to have really changed after surgery. I am still really nervous about being somewhat normal again with regards to eating food. I'm dying to have some(can't start mushies until the 21st) but I'm also afraid. I know that sounds so irrational! I've really had no problems with gas or nausea so far and it is so nice to get all those staples out. My incisions are healed, etc. I'm going to try and choke down another protein shake..
I have not had a huge weight problem all my life. I struggled with the same 15-20 lbs. through college. Once I got married I started to gain and was onWW when I got pregnant with my first child. All went well but I gained 55lbs. with both my children. I lost it in between, but ended up dieting my way up to my highest weight of 225, a gain of 70 pounds. I have tried everything and nothing has worked--it just got worse. It's been 8 years now and I just can't wait any longer. I have thought about WLS for several years now, but kept thinking the next thing I tried would work. I started out wanting a lab-band and was hoping to be covered by insurance. After the seminar, I knew the band was not for me and the VSG sounded great. I am self-pay and luckily my husband and even my parents are very supportive. I've only had one friend who was worried I was making a mistake. I can't wait to have my life back. I'm always so tired and thanks to a wreck 2 years ago, my back injury has gotten worse with each pound. I only have 13 days left!
