Update
on September 4, 2010 11:59 am
It has been a long time since I posted but I wanted to update some pics and see what was new on the site.  Life for me has changed dramatically in the past 1 1/2 years.  It's crazy how people treat you differently just because your exterior changed.  I'm loving life and continuing to be me though.  Unfortunately I have lost some friends during my weightloss process but I'm taking the bad with the good.  I hope everyone is still focused and encouraged!!

I'm so silly cause I hate posting.  Anyway, I was so wrong to think this process would be easy.  I'm a little frustrated but I have a great group of people supporting me.  I guess I need to just focus on the positive and not the negative.

My Story

Just like many of you on here, I have struggled with my weight all of my life.  I have always been able to lose weight but the keeping it off part, not so much.  Well, the decision to have WLS stemmed from several things but what motivated me the most was when my aunt passed last Feb. (2008) due to an obesity related illness.  It was really unnerving to see her in the hospital going through so much pain for something that was preventable.  After her services, I decided that I needed to seriously start looking into WLS.  My mother, both of my older sisters (twins) and a cousin had WLS with great success so they were really supportive of my decision.  I had my WLS on May 19, 2009 so everything is still new to me.  I think I'm freaking myself out because I think that I should be losing more than I am but my doctor reminded me that I didn't/don't weigh as much as most WLS patients so I'm not going to drop large amounts like some of his other patients (I started the process at 231 and as of today, 7/7/09, I weigh 204).  I'm just happy to be on the right track at this moment.  I keep telling myself that by this time next year I'll be a brand new person, well at least on the outside.  I'm glad that I've found a website that will assist me through this journey.  I am extremely excited.  The best times of my life are yet to be had.
