Hi Chris, Congratulatons on your upcoming surgery on Monday. I'll keep you in my prayers that day and know that you will do very well. Do ask for a heating pad for your tummy. It really helps disipate the gas in your tummy and is very soothing. We will be very eager to see a post from you when you are on the loser's bench. Blessings Jane

Almost 1 week post-op and doing good.  Looking forward to full liquid diet next week.  Finally went to the bathroom for the first time and I was so relieved.  Thanks for checking in on me - 3/24/07

5 months out

Well - at 5 months out - I am so thankful for my sleeve.  I could have never lost this weight without this tool and I am so blessed that the Lord gave me the desire of my heart to get my weight under control.  I am starting to see that I could have trouble maintaining my weight so I am about to get back on the wagon and get back to what I know.  Low carb, high protein is the name of the game.  I will post again to let you know how I am progressing.  I keep "upping" my goal weight because so many are saying that I look great now and if I lost another 30 pounds that I would look aweful, so I may try to stop at about 150 pounds and see how long I can maintain at that level.  Like I said - check back in and see how we do.

My Story

I am a 38 year old female from "The South" (US).  I have tried every diet known to man and nothing has ever worked.  I have been exercising 2 - 3 hours, 6 days a week at the gym (cardio and weight training) for almost 3 years now.  I can only imagine what I would have weighed if I hadn't started that in 2004.  I have lost very little weight - a few inches - but very little weight.  I proved to myself that A LOT of it has to do with my food and excersice really isn't helping me reach my true goals that much.  I am scheduled for the gastric sleeve on Monday, March 19, 2007.  I was set on the Lap Band but my surgeon is really recommending the sleeve so I switched to that last week.  SO not very much time to research the procedure really well.    If anyone has any tips or advice, I could sure use it.  I have two little girls (ages 6 and 3) and a great "normal weight" husband that is trying to be supportive but just doesn't "get it".  I kind of feel like I am out here all alone even though my sister had her stomach stapled back in 1986.  She had good results and plans to eat my diet with me to help her lose her last 30 lbs.  Wish me luck!
