Midweek crisis
on April 29, 2008 10:44 pm

4/29/08.  I had a bit of a crisis last week so I didn't make my goal of exercising 4 x last week.  I haven't been back to the gym since last Tuesday due to working nights.  I plan to get back on track tomorrow.  It's tough to find the ambition to go after you've worked all night and then slept all day.  I really need to push myself.  I'm starting to get a big saggy so I definately need to step up the weight lifting.  That has been one of my biggest fears.  I don't want to have "relief society arms" (cultural joke).  I am proud to say that I am finally in the 220's.  It's been a long time since I've seen that number.  It's getting so close to the 100's.  I can't wait!  I also got into a pair of scrubs the other night that I haven't been able to wear in over 2 years.  I felt so awesome all night wearing them.  It feels so good to be losing the weight.

Eating too much?
on April 22, 2008 1:36 pm
4/22/08.  So yesterday when I was at my doctor's office, his MA asked me if I was measuring my food.  Well I told her I didn't, I know it's bad, etc. etc.  Well she told me that they had to take 3 people back to surgery in the last month to correct band slips.  That scared me, because there are days that I push my band a little too much.  So then my doctor comes in and gives me the same spill about measuring my food and not overeating my band.  I'm really nervous about this.  I guess that I have to go back to the basics and no more eyeballing.  I definately don't want to end up back in the OR to have my band fixed.  They have some little condiment cups that they give for quick measurement and I"m going to use them, and make sure I'm not eating too much meat and other stuff.

I also decided that I'm giving up potatoes.  I love them, and I eat way too many french fries, baked potatoes, and mashed potatoes.  I guess it's the country girl in me (my dad was a potatoe farmer).  I'm actually kinda depressed about it, but I can replace them with much healthier options.  This one's gonna be tough, but I really want to make my goal and these little things are really sabataging my efforts.  I'll keep you updated on how life without potatoes will be

I'm feeling really tight today.  I still haven't eaten real food yet.  I tried some cottage cheese and it hasn't bothered me.  I think that I will hold off on solids until tomorrow night and see how I do.  I think that I was swollen when I got my fill.  I had a PB episode the night before, and I didn't know this until I visited the doc yesterday that if you PB you shouldn't eat solid for 24 hours.  Guess that's another thing I am going to have to correct.

New goals for month 9

Another fill
on April 21, 2008 1:50 pm
4/21/08.  I had another fill this morning and I'm feeling tight.  When I drank my glass of water after my doc filled me, it went down really slow.  I had to sit on the bench for a couple of minutes to make sure that it went down OK.  I think that I might be a touch too tight, but I'll give it a day or two to test the waters.  I am on clears for now so I don't know if I'll be able to tolerate anything yet.

I'm starting my goal of 4 x a week at the gym today.  I read somewhere that you have better success at achieving goals if you write them down and update them, so I'll keep track on OH to keep myself honest.

Well gotta go for now, my endless stack of homework awaits, until next time.

My Story

Hi my name is Kelsee, I'm 24 years old and have struggled with my weight my whole life.  I was able to keep it under control until about the last 5 years.  In high school I weighed about 165 lbs until my senior year, when I ballooned to 215 by graduation.  Desperate to not go to college a fat girl I starved myself the summer before leaving home and managed to lose 50 lbs.  This weightloss was short lived and the lbs started creeping back on when my high school sweetheart returned from boot camp.  I weighed around 235 when we got married and eloped to Vegas so nobody would have to stare at me in a big fat wedding dress.  My weight continued to increase until I weighed about 290.  I knew I needed to do something and dedicated myself to starvation and exercise.  I lost about 70 lbs with that attempt and put it all back on plus some when I started nursing school.  By this point I knew that I needed help to get the weight off and keep it off.  Lap band seemed like the perfect fit.  I did not want to have my intestines rearranged, and this seemed much less invasive.  I am very happy with my decision and know that I will be able to reach my goal weight and become the healthy person I want to be.

Here is a list of goals I want to accomplish:

Weigh 220lbs~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Done 5/22/08
Weigh 175lbs
Wear a size 14 pants
Wear a large shirt
Wear a sleeveless shirt and feel confident
Exercise regularly 4-5 x a week
Go skydiving
No longer be considered obese
Shop in the misses section~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Done 5/12/08
Weigh less than my husband
Reach my goal weight of 155lbs
Reach 199 lbs by my 25th b-day (July 31, 2008)
Fit into an airplane seat without an extender
