Surgeon Testimonial

Ki Hyun Oh M.D.
My first impression of Dr. Oh came at the orientation. He was thorough in his explanations & the importance of following his instructions for the most success. He was also humorous, which was a surprise since I had heard otherwise. I feel very good about his surgical competence and really like the lifelong follow-up.

Thursday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench!

Tough days
on October 25, 2007 8:09 pm
Ugh! Nothing tastes good! My protein shakes are so hard to get down, not only because they don't taste good (like I remember before surgery) but because I hate the heaviness in my pouch. I am drinking them slowly, hoping it'll just drift on through the stoma, but no luck. It just kind of sticks there for a while. I understand this is supposed to happen, but it's making it hard for me to get my protein in.

Same with the Crystal Lite and water ... they just don't taste good. I guess this is just a matter of JUST DO IT! Thought this would be easier.

Feeling great!
on October 21, 2007 3:30 pm
Ten days post-op and I feel great! Went to see Dr. Hirai last Friday and was told I could go back on the protein drinks and vitamins. Hurray! My light-headedness is gone. Life is good.

Well, I'm home from the hospital a few days now...
on October 15, 2007 6:15 pm
and I'm feeling pretty good. Got myself weaned off the Roxicet. Can't stand that stuff ... makes me want to sleep. I find I can't get my fluids in if I'm sleeping all day and night!

That seems to be my biggest struggle for the moment, so not too bad. I feel a little light-headed every now and then.

I'll post later. My kids just got home and I want to know how their days went.

2 days to go
on October 9, 2007 10:41 pm
Yippee! One more day of work to go.

My granddaughter made her arrival Sunday night. Molly Lynn is a beautiful baby and I can't wait to get to know her and watch her grow.

I've lost a total of 25 pounds since 8/30 so it looks like I'm going to get very close to losing the 10% that was asked by the surgeon. Never thought I'd get this close!

5 days and counting
on October 7, 2007 12:35 am
It's really going to happen! I am being given a second chance at health and a longer life. I am not at all nervous about the surgery. I feel a great sense of peace about this entire process.

I only have two little snags ... one, a problem with a prescription the insurance wants to do a pre-authorization on (don't you just love the bureaucracy and red tape of insurance companies?) ...

and two, my little granddaughter is not born yet. I was hoping to spend some time helping my daughter with the three little ones after she gave birth before my surgery ... but the birth hasn't happened yet. And now I don't know how much time I'll have to help her. She also has a 2 year old and a 3 year old. What to do? Pray!
