Surgeon Testimonial

Ki Hyun Oh M.D.
My first impression of Dr. Oh came at the orientation. He was thorough in his explanations & the importance of following his instructions for the most success. He was also humorous, which was a surprise since I had heard otherwise. I feel very good about his surgical competence and really like the lifelong follow-up.

Updating My Goal Weight
on May 16, 2008 10:36 am
The closer I get to the goal of 145, the more I think my goal weight should be more like 134 pounds. That would give me a BMI of 23 ... middle of the range.

Now I need to figure out (again) how to change my BMI on my profile to reflect my current number.

Highest 299.7 / Pre Op 272 / Today 162 / Goal 134 ... 28 pounds to go!

WARNING: Whining ahead!

In light of what's happening in people's lives around me, I feel I have nothing to complain about. But does that stop me? Heck no! I've been so sick since last Thursday ... still not better, but have to work and carry on.

Erika had a migraine yesterday. I took her to the ER where they gave her a nice little shot. So for the rest of the day, I played with my grandbabies, trying to keep them quiet so mommy could rest and feel better. What a long day!!! And I didn't feel good.

But like I said, in light of other's struggles, these are simple, even irritable complaints. I have other complaints that I won't list here, because they really shouldn't be shared in such an open forum. But still, life is good.

Yesterday I discovered that I can run, and not feel like a complete wobbly mess of jell-o while moving. I pulled up to Erika's to pick her up and there was a fire truck and aid car right outside her apartment. I panicked, thought it was for her. Thought oh my gosh she must be worse than they said and called 911. I parked quickly and ran to her apartment to discover that they were there for one of her neighbors. When I had her in the car, I realized that I had just RUN and never got winded like I would've if I'd tried such nonsense in the past. Kind of a cool moment. Guess there's no excuse not to be running on the treadmill any more. Time to get busy.

Mr. Scale has started moving once again, so PHEW! I'm not done losing and am happy about that!

UGH and ARGH!

Well, to say I'm disappointed would be putting it lightly. The weight loss has been at a stall for almost 2 weeks now. I hope it IS a stall. I hope I'm not finished losing yet. I really would like to unload these last 20 pounds.

So, I ask myself, what am I doing differently in the last two weeks? 1) Walking more in our surrounding neighborhoods instead of going to the gym six days a week, because the weather is nicer. 2) Eating more protein foods, and not relying 100% on protein for my daily protein and calories. 3) I started school last month.

Those really are the only differences. So ... could the walking be affecting the weight loss because of muscle development? Is eating differently a factor? Should I go back to mostly the protein shakes? My girlfriend (who is 3 years post-op) says I need to start learning to eat "real" food. And school ... well, besides sitting to study, I guess I could study my study cards when I'm on the elliptical machine!

I went shopping over the weekend and am happy to buy size 10 pants and medium shirts. If my weight loss is finished, I would not be unhappy with these sizes. I just really feel like I'm not done yet!

Don't get me wrong ... 135# of old Cindy gone is great! I was hoping it would 155# though. I'm not giving up and I will try to wait this out for a couple more weeks. If it doesn't budge, I'm going to look at these things again and figure out what is going on!
