Tick Tock Tick Tock

Is it July yet?  Yes, I am a very impatient person.

Well I have been waiting for this for what seems like forever.  5 months and 1 week to go. Then hopefully things will take off from there.

Kind of makes a person wonder if this is a sign not to go through with it.    All prayers appreciated.  God Bless.

...and will until I can change my insurance in July 2011.  I have been depressed about this, so I haven't really felt like posting.  Sigh...Oh well....it's all for a reason.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

Playing the Waiting Game
on November 5, 2010 9:30 pm
Well still no word from my insurance.  I am going to call them on Monday and see what is going on.  Hopefully they are working on it....we all know how slow they can be.

I have been watching lots of videos on you tube from post ops.  Learning all I can and getting inspired,.  I also joined the WLSFA.  ( click here if you want to join
www.wlsfa.org ).  Also my husband and I are talking about getting the community we live in together for a Walk From Obesity next fall.  They have the Race For The Cure and other races so we want to add this one to the mix;.

I am so excited to start this journey for a healthier new me, not only for myself, but for my children.  I want to be able to do things with them as they grow, hiking, camping, running whatever.  I am also starting a you tube vlog myself.....first off I want to break out of this shell I am in and I also want to pay it forward, and give back what I have received by watching others videos.

Take care all and God Bless.

Carolyn

Step Skipping

Got a call from Ashley, the patient advocate at New Life Center for Bariatric Surgery.  The Seminar for tomorrow, 10/21/10, has been canceled.  And instead of scheduling me for another seminar she told me to go ahead and make an appointment.  then she told me they don't take my insurance, but they do take another division of the same insurance, and all I have to do is make a phone call and switch.  So I called the insurance and applied for a change....now just waiting to hear from them, which they said I would hear something in 4-6 weeks.  Ugh...I am an inpatient person. lol

My Story

September 22, 2010

Hello, my  name is Carolyn.  I am a wife to Jim,  and mother to Grant, Camyron and Dylan.  I am in my early forties and have been struggling with my weight all my life.  I heard about WLS around 2000, and started researching it..  I started the process several  times and then,  well, life happened.  I met my husband and we started a family.  I am a firm believer that things happen when and how  they are supposed to.

Back in 2000 there really weren't that many Bariatric Surgeons in the area I live in. Now there are several within a hundred miles. I want to have this surgery so I can get healthy and do all the things Jim and I want to and have planned to do with our children,

In 2004,  after  the birth  of our first son, I was considering WLS again, just to find out I was  pregnant with  son number 2.  Then we moved and once we settled in I was considering WLS again. Started doing more research....on-line, reading any and every book I could  get my hands on and watching any program about WLS.   I was ready to give it another go and when  I went to my doctor found out we were expecting son number 3.

In 2008 I was refereed to a Surgeon who does WLS just to be told by a member of his staff that he wouldn't even see me until I loose at least a hundred pounds. "Thank you for coming by,  have a nice day."  Not a suggestion as to how I was to do this, I was totally on my own.  (Was also told by the same staff person that I was to 'big' for the operating tables. Um...excuse me...this is the same hospital that I had all three sons at, by c-section.)  Well needless to say I let this discourage me and  just  gave up.

So here we are in 2010. I have  already spoke to my doctor about it and she agrees I am a good candidate. So I done some research and found a Bariatric Surgeon  who specializes in WLS and has a good reputation.  I gave my doctor his number and  address so she could call with a referral. Just waiting for the results of that now.

Wow, this is funny.  Not long after writing the above, Susan, from  my doctor's office called to say that  she has an appointment for me to attend a WLS Seminar with the WLS Surgeon.  They ask that you attend this before your appointment with them.  Well I do believe my journey has begun.
