Surgeon Testimonial

Bruce Schirmer M.D.
Dr. Schirmer took plenty of time to answer any questions for me. He seems like he really cares for his patiets. The classes before the initial consult are very informative and interesting.

Two Years Post-OP
on January 24, 2009 1:08 pm
Well guys and gals here I am at almost 2 years post op in March 2009.  I am down 140 pounds and feeling great.  I can actually keep up with my daughter and not get out of breath.  I finished my first 5k in November.  I can actually sit in the seats at amusement parks.  The world is wide open!  People do treat you differently when you are skinny.  It is amazing.   I still see the fat person in the mirror and still tend to go to the larger sizes.  I guess that will be a life long battle.   Good luck to those of you that are thinking about having surgery.  It is no all that hard and it is WORTH it !  I wished I had done this sooner.

Well guys I am really feeling it now.  I have people telling me everyday how good I look.  Can I tell you how good it feels to not be recognized by people you have known all your life?  It is wonderful for someone to look at you and just walk by because they do not know you.  All my clothes are falling off my hips and I have came down 2 scrub sizes at work!!!!  I am amazed everyday at the changes in my body.  I am loving life and cannot wait to be an even BIGGER LOOSER!
I know dad is in heaven being happy for me and I cannot wait for our reunion in HEAVEN.  Dad you are my superstar.  I miss you and I did this because of you.  I love you very much!!

Almost 3 months post op
on May 31, 2007 3:07 pm

I am now almost three months post-op and feeling great!  I get many compilments throughout the day at work about how good I am looking and what a difference it is making in my apprearance.  It is a major morale booster.  I guess I did not realize how "bad" I looked.  My daughter that is 5 is telling me how proud she is of me and that I look good.  Sooooo a 5 year old opinion is high up in my book.  Good luck to those who are thinking about this surgery and do not second guess yourself.

My Story

Well I started out three years ago on my quest for WLS. My family put up many road blocks that discouraged me.  So... I dropped the whole idea of having the  surgery.  In the mean time my dad got sick and I was busy helping take care of him.  While I had been taking care of dad I made up my mind that I am going forward with my plan of WLS.  I have been jumping all the hoops Insurance requires.  I lost dad in August 2006.  I already had an appointment in October for my initial visit and had plans on going it alone.  My mom found out about my appointment and has had a total change of heart.  She went with me in October for my initial visit and I qualify as a Great cannidate for the surgery.

I just want to comment on exactly why I want to do this: 1. I want to be around to raise my daughter. 2. I want to be in better health for me. 3.I want to be able to take my daughter to the amusement park and actually ride the rides with her.  4. People do not look at what is on the inside they only look at the outside.  People are shallow and do not know what they are missing!
