Surgeon Testimonial

Paul Wizman, M.D.
I have been researching surgeons for some time now. I have been very apprehensive because I have had some friends that have had this surgery here in Florida, and have had horror stories. My co-worker came into work one day and handed me a newsletter from the hospital. There was an article about bariatric surgery in it and also it mentioned the informational seminars and a number to call. I called the number only to find out that there was a seminar that evening. I went and that when I met Dr. Wizman. I immediately felt a connection. I loved his personality and compassion. I also spoke with several of his patients and knew right away that Dr. Wizman was definately the Surgeon that I want to do my surgery.

Almost there!!!!
on February 24, 2011 7:16 am
Got on the scale this morning and was totally floored.  I'm at 136 lbs.  I'm only 11 lbs. from my goal.  I know that my surgeon is going to ask me to stop losing weight because after I have my body contouring done, I'm going to be too thin (is there such a thing?).  I'm scared right now though as I'm finding that I can eat anything (and I mean anything) and not have any reactions.  Although I go to support group once a month, I'm finding it's just not enough.  I have been going back to my old eating habits (to some degree) and that's not good, even though I'm still losing weight.

Just about where I need to be......
on December 7, 2010 8:30 pm
I'm just about where I need to be before having skin reduction surgery.  I only have 27 more lbs. I want to lose to reach my goal weight.  This is just amazing.  One year ago today, who would have thought I'd come this far?

Wow! I feel amazing!!!
on September 17, 2010 9:13 am
It's been a while since I've posted.  I'm 9 1/2 months post op.  Down 103 lbs. and feel amazing.  I'm in a size 12!!!  Yes, a size 12!!!  I can't believe it.  I haven't seen that size in years and years.  I bought a hot dress and shoes to match yesterday.  I'm going to a birthday party tonight and I'm going to knock them dead!   I want to lose about 20 more lbs. then I plan on having skin reduction surgery.  It's kind of weird to me that my BMI is still showing me as obese.  Even at 125 lbs. (my goal weight), I will still be considered overweight (and I will probably be a size 6 or 8).  How is that?  I guess the # on the scale isn't important as long as I'm healthy and feeling good about myself.

8 weeks post op
on February 4, 2010 8:12 am
Down 34 lbs. and feeling good.  I think I'll go to the gym today and walk on the treadmill.  I had my membership suspended because I wasn't able to do anything for a while and haven't gone back yet.  I only have one month left, so I think I'll use it starting today.  I really need to move more.  I do way too much sitting around and the weight is not coming off fast enough.

5 days post op
on December 12, 2009 4:39 am
Well, I'm 5 days post op, and I feel great (other than a little pain still).  I had a problem with one of my incisions leaking, but that stopped and it looks good.  I'm still a bit swollen.  I've been able to get in all my protein without any problems at all.  Nothing is getting stuck and nothing is coming back up.  Bowel movements have been regular.  Feels so weird to never have the feeling of hunger or to get full on 1/2 a scrambled egg when I can usually eat two eggs, bacon, sausage, bagel, pancakes and hashbrowns. :-)  I'm also walking a lot, which is definately helping.  That's also kinda weird for me, because being a couch potato used to be my sport of choice.  I'm still waiting for the "why the hell did I do this" question to come up.  I'm just excited that I'm going to have my health and a better looking body!
