Surgeon Testimonial

Christopher Cobourn, MD
I've had a very successful consult at the Surgical Weight Loss Clinic in Mississauga. Dr. Cobourn is a compassionate doctor and very dedicated to bariatric medicine. I am impressed with the aftercare program as well as the ever-helpful and friendly staff at the SWLC.rnMy surgery date is October 29th - it can't come too soon!rnMy WLS went well, also had a hernia repair. Two weeks later I went back to the OR and Dr. Mumford excised a large abdominal hematoma. He is also a very compasssionate surgeon and once again I was in very good hands.

My Story

Well, my story isn't probably too much different from many others.  I wasn't really an overweight child but the potential was there.  I was a lover of sweets, made possible by a mother who was a fabulous cook and baker.  We had homemade dessert each day with lunch and supper.  I was slim throughout my teens but starting gaining weight with each pregnancy.  Life got complicated with divorce, abuse issues and poverty and food became my friend.  It certainly didn't help that poor food choices are usually the cheapest!
I went to Nutri-System once and lost 50lbs.  It came back on gradually over a five year period.  I also went to Weight Watchers several times with short term, temporary results.  Also tried gyms and Curves.
I briefly looked into WLS a few years ago, but was only interested in lap band and the cost scared me off.  So, the weight just piled on slowly over a period of about six years.
My brother-in-law had RNY last year and lost 122 lbs.  He looks and feels fantastic and this perked my interest in WLS again.  I went for a consult and my wake up moment came when I realized I paid more for my car than I would for surgery that could change my life. So, now it's full speed ahead!
I'm also in a much better place in my life now.  All the issues of years ago mentioned above are long gone.  I have been married to my soulmate for the past fourteen years and my kids are happy, healthy and wonderful adults.
This is the best ever time to start a new healthy life!
