THE NIGHT BEFORE...
on May 31, 2009 8:46 pm
Tomorrow is the beginning of big changes.  I will be starting on a low carb, high protein diet in preperation for surgery.  Last Thursday my primary completed the clearance for surgery as long as I have clearance from a cardiologist.  The reason she has done this is because I have had some swelling around my ankles and she wants to rule out heart problems.  I supposedly have a racing heard (tachycardia).  It is true my heart is beating fast.  I don't feel it unless I am purposely looking for it.  This is such a frustration because I am almost there, waiting to get a date...yet this could set me back.  I may have to do some tests and who knows how long this could take.  I completed my H-Pylori blood test so all that is left is an approval from the cardiaciologist...who knows which way this is going to do.  By the way I have never had cardiac issues...ever.

ON MY WAY...
on May 27, 2009 9:25 pm
Well I heard from the nurse who reviewed my profile.  Good news I do not need to do a pulmonary test.  I just need the H Pylori blood work and the EKG test completed.  I was able to have my blood drawn to day and the EKG will be next Tuesday.  Then the nurse will schedule my Pre Op appt with Dr Marema, my blood work appointment and THE  BIG SURGICAL DAY appointment.  I should be there within 2-3 weeks.  I am so excited that I am going to begin my new journey any day now.  I also realized as I spoke with the nurse was that I need to address my anxiety.  I do believe I got here to this weight due to self medication.  I have had anxiety since a child.  You know that feeling of gloom and doom , like something bad is going to happen.  I even experienced full blown panic attacks for close to two years in 1987 after my miscarriage with my first pregnancy.  I do know when I have been on a high protein / At kin-0like diet I have experienced high levels of anxiety and like a flush of panic.  I do know how to control the feelings and the panic onset so I have not had a full blown panic attack for years.  I am concerned about all that coming back (and didn't happen with my high doses of carbs to keep it at bay).  So tomorrow I am going to set an appointment to see a psychologist to have someone to talk to over the next set of weeks until I am in a new routine with my eating plan and life basically.  That really is the only thing I am scared about at this point.  I look forward to getting my life back, which means more energy, being able to bend at the waist, walk around the block, climb stairs without panting and just a great feeling of life back in me.  I am tired of existing!

MISSED PHONE CALL...
on May 23, 2009 1:27 pm
I missed an important phone call yesterday.  It was the nurse from US Bariatrics who was calling to take my profile and set up my appointments.  I am frustrated, but still excited because that means next week when I call them on Tuesday...I will be that much closer to putting my foot down on the road to the life I want to be living and not existing.  I can't wait to be one of those people in the before and after pictures.  Those people have no idea what an inspiration they are to me.  One day I look forward to someone asking me how I did it and telling me how wonderful I look.  Until then I am holding on to the HOPE...

FIRST STEP ON MY NEW LIFE JOURNEY-I'M...
on May 20, 2009 10:24 pm
Today, May 20, 2009, I was approved by my insurance company to have my RNY surgery.  I am finally on my way.  I began this journey in March 2008 when I went to my first bariatric seminar and decided I was going to have the surgery.  I was denied by my then insurance company and my world began to spiral into hopelessness. I pulled my pants up for one last try and joined Metabolic Research Weight Loss Program.  Once again put my best foot forward and lost 25 lbs and then gained it back along with another 15 lbs.  So finally the journey that I need to be on is here in front of me.  I am the only one who can make this happen.  I feel ready for this change.
