Surgeon Testimonial

Joseph C Moran
Dr. Moran and his staff are absolutely wonderful! The office staff handled everything for me regarding the insurance and were always available (via telephone and email) whenever I had any questions. Janell rocks! I dont think I could have chosen a better surgeon practice to perform this procedure on me. I give Dr. Moran and his staff a 10!

I survived the first month!
on April 9, 2007 5:02 am
I am happy to report that I made it through the first month.  The first two weeks of clear/full liquids were probably the hardest weeks of my life!  I was so tired and weak that I pracatically stayed in my bed all day long, but I am here to tell you that IT DOES GET BETTER!!

After I progressed to mushies I felt back to normal again.  I brought a magic bullet (wonderful I might add) but I mainly used mine for making smoothies and protein shakes.  I tried some liquified chicken salad and I couldnt eat it because of the texture.

I am loving my band so far.  My weight has fluxuated between 215-218 but I have lost several inches.  Most of my weight seems to be dropping from my legs (which were'nt very big to begin with) but I am also losing inches from my stomach (YAY!) and my waist.  I haven't had a fill yet but my hunger is pretty much managed.  I drink 1-2 protein shakes a day and usually eat baked chicken or fish.

I survived my first big family function on Saturday.  We had a pre-Easter fish fry and easter egg hunt for the children.  I only ate one piece of fish (huge deal for me) and I managed to get in my water for the day.  Everyone commented that I looked good and I was getting skinny.  I have a few obese people in my family and I was ready to start making recommendations to my surgeon.

Well, thats it for now.  For all you pre-oppers, just know that it does get better.  The first two weeks are definitely the hardest but just stick to your surgeon's diet and you should be well on your way!

Surgery & Post Op
on March 11, 2007 7:02 pm
Well I had my surgery on Thursday (3/08/07) and things are going fine.  The pain was not at bad as I expected and I was able to get around fairly well the day following surgery.
{I had a c-section before and trust me, I would take the lap-band anyday}

I stopped taking my pain medicine after the first day because it was making me dizzy (and frankly I didnt really need it).  Suprisingly, I haven't been physically hungry buy my head hunger almost got the best of me today.  I went to my mother's house after church like I do every week and the smell of the food almost had me salivating!  I tried to taste a little of the juice from her pot roast and potatoes and I think it may have given me gas because my stomach started feeling funny afterwards.

According to my scale, I have lost 6 pounds so far and I look forward to losing more.  Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to walk for 30 minutes.

My day is here!
on March 7, 2007 12:56 am

WOW!!  I have only one day until surgery and I still cant believe it is happening for me.  I anticipated so many problems with getting insurance approval, but blessedly none of those obstacles were placed in my way.  It is 4:00am and I cant sleep because I am a bundle of nerves/excitement.  I have to be at the hospital in a few hours for my pre-op and then I will have surgery on Thursday 3/08/07.

I must say that the information I have received from OH is invaluable.  I plan to share my knowledge with others as soon as I am banded and on the losing side.
