How do I start the process for gastric bypass surgery?

Hi everyone,  I was referred to this website by a friend.  Let me tell you my story.  I'm a 36 year old women.  I have been seeing my primary Dr. 2 consecutive months.  So far i had a sleep apnea test on Nov. 21.  On Dec. 13 i was going to have my 3rd Dr. appoint.  She canceled on me.  Which rescheduled date was given for Jan. 12.  Will this still count a 3rd appoint. Or will I have to start all over the process.  After 6 months of my Dr. reviewing my diet and exercise journal well she then give me the referral to see a surgeon. Do i still have a long way to go.   Are there classes that i should be going to before seeing the surgeon.  If  I'm tring to get the surgery thru my insurance company which is HealthNet.   A few co-workers had the surgery already.  On that they belong to a different medical group.   Please help i would really appreciate it.
