PHENOMENAL WOMAN by Maya Angelou
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies ▫ I'm not cute or built to suit a model's fashion size ▫ But when I start to tell them ▫ They think I'm telling lies. ▫ I say ▫ It's in the reach of my arms ▫ The span of my hips ▫ The stride of my steps ▫ The curl of my lips. ▫ I'm a woman ▫ Phenomenally ▫ Phenomenal woman ▫ That's me.
I walk into a room ▫ Just as cool as you please ▫ And to a man ▫ The fellows stand or ▫ Fall down on their knees ▫ Then they swarm around me ▫ A hive of honey bees. ▫ I say ▫ It's the fire in my eyes ▫ And the flash of my teeth ▫ The swing of my waist ▫ And the joy in my feet. ▫ I'm a woman ▫ Phenomenally ▫ Phenomenal woman ▫That's me.
Men themselves have wondered ▫ What they see in me ▫ They try so much ▫ But they can't touch ▫ My inner mystery. ▫When I try to show them ▫ They say they still can't see. ▫ I say ▫ It's in the arch of my back ▫The sun of my smile ▫ The ride of my breasts ▫The grace of my style. ▫I'm a woman ▫Phenomenally▫ Phenomenal woman ▫That's me.

Now you understand ▫ Just why my head's not bowed ▫ I don't shout or jump about ▫Or have to talk real loud ▫ When you see me passing ▫ It ought to make you proud. ▫ I say ▫ It's in the click of my heels ▫The bend of my hair ▫ The palm of my hand ▫The need for my care. ▫ 'Cause I'm a woman ▫ Phenomenally ▫ Phenomenal woman ▫ That's me.

I must admit that I cut and pasted this from another profile because I LOVE IT! That's what I want to be - a phenomenal woman.

Pre-op Blood Work

Mar 19, 2008

I had my pre-op labs drawn this morning. Also had to wee-wee in the cup! They took 10 tubes of blood, then I had to have arterial blood gases drawn. I had never had that done before but had heard horror stories about how painful it could be. Let me tell you - it wasn't all that bad. Yeah, it hurt, but I've had regular blood draws hurt worse. Pheww! I'm glad it's over, though. Now I can continue to wait for that surgery date. . .

Final Consult with Surgeon

Mar 14, 2008

I had my final consult with Dr. Trieu this morning. He was very patient and answered all of my questions. I now have an upper GI and chest x-ray scheduled for March 25th. I also have to have blood work sometime soon in case I have hPylori that needs to be treated before surgery. I should know my surgery date sometime within a week. They will call when it is scheduled. Dr. Trieu thinks it will be sometime in April.

I'm excited and nervous! After 6 1/2 months I'm finally approaching the finish line - or is that the starting line?

Nurse and Trainer Visit

Mar 11, 2008

Today I had appointments with the nurse/clinical coordinator at the Bariatric Center and my second appointment with the trainer. The nurse gave me information about what will happen after my visit with Dr. Trieu on Friday, March 14th. I had hopes of getting my surgery date when I saw the doctor Friday, but it turns out the process of scheduling the surgery can take up to a week! The Bariatric Center has to contact the surgical practice for whom Dr. Trieu works, then they contact the hospital to schedule the surgery. Once the hospital fits the surgery into the schedule, they contact the surgical practice, who then contact the Bariatric Center. Then, and only then, the Bariatric Center calls me with the date! What a tangled web! Spider

Any-whoooo --- the nurse said I will have to have a chest x-ray, barium swallow (), and blood work pre-op. I will also have to meet with the nurses and anesthesiologist at the hospital.

So now I guess I'll just be waiting for Friday.
