September 26th, 2009 - - 11 days post op
on September 26, 2009 7:19 pm
I'm 11 days post op and doing very well.  Surgery was rescheduled from September 8th to September 15th, due to my Dr. being on vacation.  I was disappointed that my date was moved back at first, but everything worked out.  My surgery was at 7:15 a.m. and I did great until around 6p.m. when my pouch decided it wasn't sure if it liked being small.  I started dry heaving and did this for about 15 minutes.  After that I was fine, up walking the halls.  Before WLS I was a diabetic on 6-7 shots per day.  Before my surgery they put me on an insulin iv, by 7p.m. or so the night after surgery they removed the insulin iv.  The next afternoon my sugar levels went up to 175 and they had to give me some insulin....but the good news is I have not had any insulin since.  My friend tells me that with just that I'm a big success.  Even if I don't lose another pound.  However, speaking of losing pounds....I started my WLS journey on July 1st, weighing 214lbs.....at 11 days post op I am down to 190lbs.  a 24lb weigh loss whoo hooo!!!

I have already had a follow-up visit with my dr. and he was pleased so far.  He said for me to keep nibbling and walk, walk, walk.  My next dr. appt is in mid October.

I have been released to go to the YMCA to do treadmill.  I am starting that tomorrow.  Can't wait to get out there and get going.

Just joined OH...looking forward to meeting new friends who have had the RNY.  I am scheduled for surgery on 09/08/09.  I have a lot of things I have to do before my surgery date.  On the 13th I go for my scope, then on the 17th I have to go meet with the surgeon for preop instructions and have to have a stress test for my cardiac clearance.  On the 20th of August I go to the hospital for preop testing.  I am having my surgery at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.  My surgeon's name is Donovan Teel.  So...I'm on the countdown....30 days till I become a RNYer and have a re-birth.
