We are now a month into a brand new year! And I can not believe it's going to be 3 years post-op for me this September, I am just really in awe that time has gone by that fast. It really seemed like just yesterday I was praying for the opportunity to get this far.
Two whole years and 4 months have gone by. I am proud to say that I have maintained my 115 pound weight loss!! This past year didn't go without it's trials and tribulations. Holidays, gatherings, picnics, etc. It is easy to defiitely eat the bad foods. But I think with this journey comes along with a sense of knowing that there is a balance, and you have to find that balance. I know that I can have a bite of something and be very satisfied with it, and not have the whole thing. But I had to reinforce that I couldn't have anymore. This is tough for some of us, but findng balance is so important.
This past year I had to re-enforce going back to basics, there were several stumbles and I had to get back up and keep going.
I had a good couple of learning experiences: #1 Never take vitamins for granted, I wasn't taking enough vitamins and am on B12 shots and extra Vitamin D. #2 Not all birthcontrol pills are alike - Oh boy, I got switched to a different birth control over the summer and it wreaked havoc on my body for two weeks, with a 5lb weight gain, increase cravings, and constant munchiness, I nipped that in the butt and got switched back to my old stuff. Thank goodness. #3 Patience Patience Patience, nothing happens overnight. #4 Ask for Help - it's hard to sit and admit to yourself that you need help, you aren't superwoman and that you are vulnerable at times. Asking for help is a huge step in the positive direction. It'sshowing self love, which we all need to do more. And Lastly, #5 Friends are invaluable, I don't know what I would do without the amazing group of friends that I have, their support and encouragment humble me beyond words. I am truly thankful.
Lots of reflections I have on the last year, and really the past two years. How life has evolved for me and how things have blossomed and grown.
Spring is near and yup, I've got some goals. Though I have met my surgeon's goal and surpassed it by 4 pounds, I want to meet my personal goal, and that's going to take some work. So I jumped on the phone, called my dietician (she is really great!!), got a plan, got a workout buddy (I love my girl Emily - she keeps me going!) and I am working very hard to make my personal goal. With support and motivation, I know I can do this!!
Let's see what the next few weeks bring!
