Thank you.....
on August 8, 2007 4:41 pm

My weight today is 218.1.  I am down 53.0 pounds officially since Feb. 6, 2007.  I have really been struggling lately with my feelings towards food.  I don't want to mess up by gaining weight because I still have about 50 pounds to go.

I am so grateful that I was referred to this website.  I get so much support from this website, encouragement that I have come to rely on so much.  Even though my husband is a great support, it helps to read the profiles of so many others who have gone through and are still going through some of the same issues that I am.

Accomplishment:  I ran one mile without stopping yesterday morning!  I haven't done that since 1997!

I've been struggling some this week.  Lots of doubts which I know is an attack of the enemy.  I know that I can do all things through Christ who strenghens me.  I know that God always provides a way of escape for me to avoid temptations-I just have to take it.  I am very proud of my accomplishment but I have another 50 pounds to go.  I have to take it one pound at a time.

55 pounds gone forever!
on July 25, 2007 5:21 pm
I attended my weekly session with Methodist Weight Management program and I have lost 55 pounds in 24 weeks.  I am THRILLED!  At the beginning of this year, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that I would be 50+ pounds lighter.  I am so THANKFUL and GRATEFUL to God for showing me the People Magazine article in December.  My prayers were answered!

I have lost a total of 28 inches on my whole body~6 alone on my waist.  I am working out now, walking 40 minutes.  I have included jogging at least 10-15 minutes to get myself back in the habit.  It has been 10 years since I jogged and 11 years since I have trained for the marathon.  My goal is to complete one in 2008.

Emotional Eating
on July 2, 2007 3:54 pm

I have always known that I am an emotional eater but yesterday I was finally able to make a connection (so to speak) that when I am faced with unpleasant tasks, I turn to food.  I need to put a system in place- alternative things to do when I have to deal with unpleasant things since I know eating cannot be one of them.

#1 Re-evaluate the situation.

My Story

I am a 39 year old married woman with 2 daughters and a Rottweiler.  I have been overweight for the majority of my life but made the decision late last year to lose weight after a health scare.  My doctor thought I was having a stroke and at that moment, the 270 pounds I was carrying became real to me.

I know that the Spirit of God had impressed upon me that I needed to lose weight in early 2006.  I got a trainer and started exercising but did not reconsider the amount of food I was eating.  That formula wasn't working.  I had considered WLS surgery but wasn't sure that was an option for me since I knew that I would still have to change my eating habits.  And also change the "Why" behind my eating.

After flipping through the People magazine regarding people who had lost half of their body weight, I read the article regarding Methodist Hospital Weight Management program.  I went to the informational session and decided that this was the best route for me.  I was approved for the program and started my weight loss journey on February 6, 2007.  It has, by far, been life changing and life saving!
