Tuesday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench! ~ JudyAnne

I'm 48 years old and am married to an absolutely wonderful man.  We have four children: Christopher, 29; Sarah and Andrea, 26, and Micheal, 24.  We are also blessed with one grandchild, Paige, who is 3-1/2 years old.  All of our children live in town, so we are fortunate to be able to visit with them often.

I recently graduated from college with an Applied Science degree in Registered Nursing.  I was a computer programmer for 15 years (AS400/iSeries) but enacted a career change after my daughter (a Type I diabetic since age 22 months) went into cardiac arrest during the birth of my granddaughter, Paige (that's another story).

Nursing has been a life changing experience, one that opened my eyes to the problems of my obesity and how many of my own medical conditions were a result of my love-affair with food.  I knew in my heart that I couldn't effectively counsel patients to lose weight for their health if I, myself, was morbidly obese.  Thus, I decided to take the "big step" and get healthy, so here I am!

Okay, this isn't weight-loss related, but I PASSED my state boards and am officially an RN!  I've dreamed of this for more than 20 years and I finally made it come true.  I can't begin to tell you how happy I am!!
On the weight loss issue, I'm down 24 pounds!    It looks like I'll probably make 25 pounds by the official "month" date (6/22 will be a month).  Not bad!  I wonder how much I'll lose altogether??

WOW!

It's 16 days post-op and I'm down 18 pounds!  I'm sure a good portion of that is "water weight" but I'll take what I can get.  I plateau'd for a few days and began to think I was doing something wrong, but then good ole' common sense kicked in and I realized my body was reacting to the severe decrease in caloric intake.  Basically, my metabolism thought I was experiencing a famine and my body tried to hold on to everything it could.  I've since started losing again and it feels GREAT!

I still can't believe I feel full on 4 ounces or less.  I look at the amount of food on my plate and my head plays games with my eyes.  I "think" I'm not getting enough food but my smaller stomach tells me I'm getting plenty long before I reach my limit!

So far I've had no severe reactions to any food I've eaten.  No, I take that back... I dumped terribly on hard-boiled eggs!  I was sick most of the day (nauseous).  I've stayed away from them since and don't plan to "try" them again.  I am, however, discovering creative ways to cook low-fat and sugar-free, and my husband will also thank me for it (he, too, needs to lose about 70 pounds).  My physician allows solid foods at 3 weeks and I've been sneaking in some solids now (slap my hand) but I'm pulverizing them in my mouth before I swallow.  So far, so good!  Now to get rid of this darned gas....
