Almost There
on March 7, 2010 5:03 am
I will be 12 mos out on April 23, 2010. To date I have lost approx. 110lbs (yea!!!!). I have 30 more lbs to go. I hope it will not be to difficult in trying to lose the remaining weight.  I feel like I have been born again. Not only am I but my husband is really enjoying the new look (he simply can't keep his hands off of me.....and I like it)!!!!! Of course he couldn't keep his hands before I had the surgery but now it's more that he can't (and as I said, I like it)!!!!!  My husband does not want me to lose anymore weight but I must reach my goal for my own personal satisfaction. It's been quite sometime since I have been on the OH website. Although my surgery did not come without some struggles, I would do it all over again if I had to.There are still so many foods that i can't eat but that's ok with me. I will not ever let food define me again. Having the surgery has really boosted my confidence. I start back to school April 6, 2010 to obtain my Ph.D degree from the Univ. of Phoenix. To all of you whose had some version of bariatric surgery and to your supporters, I wish you much success. Until the next time.........

The last month and a half has been really tough for me. My husband left for another deployment at the end of Aug. I have been at a plateau for the last few weeks. I got to the point that I stopped working out because all I could focus on was my better half leaving. Since then, I am starting to get back on track. I am working out at the gym 3-5 days a week and feeling good. I noticed that after "that time of the month" I really lose pounds. I am still searching for that one food that makes me flip but I have not found it yet. I REALLY like watermelon (it is wet and goes down so well). To date, I have lost 60lbs. Sometimes I feel like that is it and the rest of the lbs I want to lose are not going to go anywhere. I know as long as I am hopeful and put forth the effort, I will be successul at reaching my goal.  I know this journey is and will not be easy but I am focused on reaching my goal. I told my husband (before he left) that I was going to work really hard so that I can look HOT when he gets home. He looked at me and said, "Your already HOT!" I told him then I want to look HOTTER. He and my son are the best support team that I could ask for. I love them both so much.

I am still doing well. To date I have lost 47 lbs. I will be going in the next few weeks for my three month checkup. I have been making myelf have to eat lately (I do not have much of an appetite). I am also still trying to find those foods that really taste good to me and with no luck, I have not done that yet. I do really like cantaloupe and watermelon and seafood. I have some clothes that I have not been able to wear in years and now I can fit some of them again YIT TIT DEE!!! Tell how are you doing? I will be intouch real soon.

Doing Good!!!!
on July 9, 2009 10:19 pm
I am now down to 228 lbs. I am still doing trial and error on what my body will tolerate. I have found that my body really tolerates seafood so I have pretty much given up on most meats 9except for Turkey and some steak. My husband is getting prepared for another deployment to Iraq (he leaves in August)  and I can't wait for him to get back home to us simply because we love him and because I can't wait for him to see the new me. I asked him the other day what does he think I will look like when he gets home and without hesitation he said I was going to look like his wife (If I don't know anything else, I know this man loves me . I started this journey weighing 267 and I can't believe I have already made it this far. Although I have not reached my goal weight, I already feel brand new (feel like dancing) .  This is one decision I am glad to have made. If I had to, I would do it all over again .

Happy to Be Losing
on June 24, 2009 6:33 am
It has been a while since I been on the site. I am still working torward my goal weight. To date I have lost 31 lbs . I ate some watermelon yesterday for the first time, it was so YUMMY. I have given up hamburger and chicken altogether. I am strictly a seafood person. I never thought the day would come that I would be giving up chicken or hamburger but I have difficulty eating them. I also have trouble with bread (yes wheat also), and mash potatoes. I am going to keeping striving forward to reach my goal. I am so happy to be on this journey!!!!

My Story

Hello:

I currently reside in Fort Bragg, NC. My husband is stationed in the Army. I am a 37 year old paralegal who hopes to attend law school once I complete my MBA degree (August 09). I have decided on weight loss surgery because I am tired of looking the way I do and I want to be in better health. I have had diabetes since 2006 and quite frankly, I am tired of having to take so many pills per day. I would also love to wear a smaller size in clothes.

I put alot of thought and research into pursuing WLS and I feel it's one of the best decisions I have ever made. My husband is VERY supportive and I am thankful for that. I would like to lose about 150 lbs. I know I can do this because

I am so determined. I really LOVE this website; especially looking at "before" & "after" photos because they really inspire me. I have very few items to complete on my Pre-Op checklist   and I'm hoping to have RNY the early part of May 2009; no later than mid May. I look forward to making new friends and keeping you updated on my WLS.
