Surgeon Testimonial

Ronald H. Clements, M.D.
I first saw Dr. Clements during the WLS surgery seminar that I attended at Vanderbilt. He led the discussion that day. My first impression was that he was a typical surgeon--in my opinion-they can be arrogant. However, my first office visit with him proved otherwise. He talked to me about the options and was very understanding when I became emotional. I felt that he treated me like a real person and not just a "fat" person. I was still nervous about him because I didn't know anyone else that he had operated on . My NUT explained that his OR nurses rave about his surgical technique---that made me feel better---I know that OR nurses are hard to impress. I ran into several people during support group and the waiting rooms that were patients. By the time that I had surgery, I had more faith in him. During my hospital stay, he was very attentive. I had no complications--not even nausea. He was insistent that I get up and walk after surgery. I now know that this was to allieve my discomfort. I was released after one night in the hospital. My recovery was very easy. The staff in his office were also great. The nutritionist and the insurance lady have been invaluable. At my first post-op appt, he was detained at the hospital and I was seen by his assistant. I was a little disappointed, but she was very easy to talk to and she answered all of my questions. I am very happy with the care I have received from him and the staff at Vanderbit Surgical Weight Loss Center.

Getting closer!
on January 29, 2012 6:35 pm
Wow--I never imagined that I'd ever be below 200, let alone close to my origingal goal of 170.  On friday morning, I weighed in at 177.  I feel so good.  My doctor told me before Christmas that I could stop my insulin.  My fasting blood sugars are higher than I think they should be, but I am so happy to be off of it.  I feel so good.  I have lots of energy and my husband commented that I cook more now than I did before surgery. Of course he also told me that I have a saggy butt!  But he can live with it, and so can I!  I am working out at least 3 times a week.  Life is good.
