Ok.. I Need To Stop Being A Punk And Get My Arse...
on January 22, 2009 6:38 am
Spring is right around the corner, and I know that I need to get my freaking arse into the gym.  I haven't returned into the gym as of yet.  Don't know why.. I look MUCH better now than I did when I first entered the gym during my preop days..  It seems that I am making up every kind of excuse for NOT going into the gym.. ...  The main excuse that I have been using lately is that "It's Ben Too Cold".  LOL I know, that was a punk move of an excuse... SMH...  All I know is that I need to get back in there.  Without.. I said WITHOUT FAIL, ASAP..

The way it looks I may have to join 2 gyms.. LOL.. I hear you laughing and I see you shaking your heads..and yes.. you have read right.. I will have to join 2 gyms.  The reason for this is because I want the benefit of working out in the morning and still be able to get to my job refreshed and on time, and I would like to work out at the Y at night during the times that my son is there. So I will have to join 2 gyms.  Believe you me, it's not easy for me to find a gym that will fit my needs as well as my time schedule..  When it comes to working out.. I am very much a morning person.. I'm the type that likes to get it in early in the morning.....(Sidebar for you dirty minded people.. GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER.. LOL.  Meaning that I am the type of morning person that I am able to get into the gym at 5:30 in the AM and think nothing of it while doing my cardio and weight training.  I could just join the Y alone, however... the timing would be off for me..  Wish me the best of luck.. I am already 2 weeks behind my "joining the gym schedule".  So until I decide on what gym will be my morning gym, I will be working out for FREE for 30 days at Bally's without signing or being obligated (pressured) to join .  Ohhh.. you didn't know about that??? Well let me hip you to it.. It seems that the The Discovery Channel is having it's National Body Challenge Promotion once again and I have signed up to receive some of the great benefits like:

New Year.. New Me.. New Goal.. Son’s...
on January 8, 2009 6:20 pm
Well.. I am here again.. Getting serious and refocused about obtaining my goal weight. At first I stated that I wanted my goal weight to be 180.. But I am rethinking about that and have decided that 160 is where I want to be. I know that it is going to take a lot of work and focus and determination in order to obtain this goal. I am sooooo serious about it now.. Sometime I wished that I put more into this in the beginning, or should I say that I wished that I had stayed focused an on point like I did in December of 2007. But… That was then this is now, and thank GOD for a second chance. Sometimes we as WLS graduates tend to lose our focus and think that once the weight is gone.. then it’s gone, however that is unlikely the case. Please trust and believe that the weight CAN AND WILL COME BACK IF.. you DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE OLD HABITS THAT TRY TO SNEAK THEIR WAY BACK INTO YOUR LIFE. I saw a few poundage come back on, but I am so glad that I was able to catch it before it takes over. I remember about a month ago I took a look at a picture of me at my heaviest and I said to the (big) woman (my former self) in the picture; “You Are Dead.. You Are Not Coming Back, I left you on the operating table in February 2007, and I am refuse to let you into my life again”    I have decided to revamp my diet and the way that I am eating. As you will notice from my previous blog, I am learning how to read and pay attention to food labels especially when it come to sugars and carbs. I am making small changes to make a big difference. For example, I LOVEEEEEE canned mandarin Oranges but I have learned that a fresh Clementine (Insert labels for Mandarin Oranges and Clementine For Comparison.) I am also going to make sure that the majority of the foods that I eat are “negative calories”. Negative Calories are defined as being foods that may be consumed within a weight-loss diet to potentially relieve the feeling of hunger without contributing to total caloric intake. The list of negative calorie foods includes:

Fruits apple cranberries grapefruit lemon mango orange pineapple raspberries strawberries tangerine

Vegetables:
asparagus, beets, broccoli,  cabbage (green), carrot, cauliflower, celery ,Chile peppers (hot), cucumber, garlic, green beans, lettuce, onion, papaya, radishes, spinach, turnip.

My new diet will consist New Whey protein shakes. It’s very delicious. I also decided to incorporate more fresh fruits and vegetable into my diet and remember to drink plenty of water each and everyday. I have dramatically limit my unhealthy intake. I even vowed not to post any new pictures until I reach my goal weight. I am very fortunate to have my best friend train me in the gym and trust me, she knows her stuff. Since changing my eating habits I have lost 3 pounds and I have 72 more pounds to lose.. I know that I can do it..

Since the surgery, I no longer get the snacks from the store that I once enjoyed. I would often remember going to the neighborhood fast food place to get my favorite cheese fries, or fried rice with gravy and mushrooms or cheeseburger,,,you get what I am saying. I somehow thought that my son would follow in my footsteps, however I have been noticing that he would often sneak and eat food that I don’t even each.. such as cookies, large bag of chips; and I noticed that he is gaining a lot of weight. So this year, I decided to present him with a 48lb weight loss challenge, the challenge is the following:  I told my son that I will pay him $1.50 for each pound that he lose and plus as an added bonus I will purchase a PSP (Playstation Portable) for him.. BUT the catch is, he has to lose 48lbs in order to get the cash and the game, if he lose 47lbs, he only get the cash. The reason that I presented this challenge to him is because I do not him to one day talk to me about him wanting to get Gastric Bypass Surgery. I signed him up for a gym membership at the Y,
and thank GOD hismembership was free. And I told him that his challenge will begin on January 19th and end on June 19th.   Well kiddies, that’s all I am going to post for the evening. Until next time..

I Can Admit To My Wrong Doing... But.. Thank God...
on December 29, 2008 8:28 am

Well.. Here I am....   A year later... And I hate to admit it, but I haven't been doing what it was that I was suppose to have done. So I HAVE NOT reached my goal weight.  I guess I was calling myself.. taking a break.  Somethimes we as individuals especially since the weightloss, forget that when we signed up for this (gastric bypass) journey, we also said that we are willing to do what it takes (i.e. hard work) that comes with it. So in other words I have been a bad girl..   But I am here to say that the BREAK is over.  In recent weeks I have been re-educating myself in regards to reading labels, excercise and diet and suppliments.  I have been doing a lot of great research in regards to the plan that I intend on following.  I will be combining what I have benn reading with the info that I have benn gathering on here from various SERIOUS Veterans.   I also decided to gather information from www.bodybuilders.com   This far this is what I have discovered.. Please start with the food label above..

1 gram of fat contains about 9 calories.
1 gram of protein contains about 4 calories.
1 gram of carbohydrate contains about 4 calories.
Healthy adults require only 1,500 to 2,400 milligrams (mg) of sodium a day.
The American Heart Association recommends that adults eat less than 2,300 milligrams (one teaspoon) of salt every day.

Here Is My List Of Red Flags:

Sugar anywhere but the end. Middle is fine if there is also substantial fiber. Of course, these rules may change for a post-workout shake.

Salt anywhere but the end of the list. Salt is not bad but should be used in moderation   Any ingredient that I can't pronounce or must understand Latin in order to decipher - again, these aren't necessarily bad I just ask myself do they do something good for me?

Excess vitamins and minerals - I'd rather get these from whole foods and a well-designed multivitamin than as a spray or additive in my food   One gram of fat is 9 calories. Protein and carbohydrates each contain 4 calories per gram. If there are 14g of fat and 150 total calories, 126 of the 150 calories are from FAT! That s over 80% fats! Next, take a look at the saturated fat. Saturated fat is the artery clogging fat that increases cholesterol; its intake should always be kept at a bare minimum.

The first ingredient on an ingredient list is the one which is most present in the food product; the last on the list is the one with the lowest percentage of all ingredients of the food products. This is the only way you can see exactly what is inside everything!

Bad Fats

Saturated Fat:   This type of fat is most often found in animal products (meat, seafood, whole-milk dairy products -cheese, milk, and ice cream - poultry skin, and egg yolks) and is solid and waxy at room temperature. It is important to limit this type of fat as it has been shown to increase blood cholesterol by increasing both the good HDL (high density lipoprotein) and bad LDL (low density lipoprotein) types of cholesterol.   Over the last four decades I've maintained that a certain amount of saturated fat, especially saturated fat from red meat, is good for you.   This is a problem in that LDL has an artery clogging effect, which promotes heart disease (LDL and HDL cholesterol are two of the four components of cholesterol, the other two being triglycerides, a blood fat lipid, and total cholesterol).   Saturated fats also are more readily stored as body fat compared to the beneficial good fats, so it is best to avoid them when aiming to shed unwanted kilos, while maintaining good health.

Trans Fats:   These fats result from the hydrogenation process, which occurs when hydrogen is added to vegetable oil. Trans fats are often used for commercial goods, as they are less likely to turn rancid — they therefore hold their shape longer.   Crackers, cookies and cakes are products typically high in trans fatty acids and, from a health standpoint they are a less desirable choice compared to saturated fats, as they actually lower the good HDL cholesterol while raising the bad LDL.   Trans fats have also been shown to cause an overactivity of the immune system that is associated with heart disease, stroke, diabetes and other chronic conditions. Such a negative impact they can have on ones health, all manufacturers must, by law, list on their product packaging the trans fat content alongside saturated fat percentage. Although one is encouraged to limit their saturated fat intake, it is important they try to totally eliminate trans fats from their diet.

Cholesterol:   Although not technically classed as a fat, cholesterol, found in fatty animal meats, does, like the saturated and trans fats (both responsible for increasing blood cholesterol levels), pose a health risk if blood levels are too high.   Although viewed as problematic from a heart disease viewpoint, a certain amount of cholesterol is needed for the integrity of all the cells membranes. It is the circulating levels in the blood, which often are derived from dietary sources of cholesterol, which might prove dangerous (although certain people genetically have a greater propensity for developing increased blood cholesterol, while others experience no ill effects from significantly increased dietary cholesterol).   Therefore, although too much of it can cause serious health problems, a small amount of cholesterol is needed in the diet for health purposes. It is worth noting that the body naturally manufactures all the cholesterol it needs, so it is not necessary to acquire it through diet. Animal products such as dairy, lard, butter, meat, poultry, seafood and eggs are the main sources of dietary cholesterol.

Good fats

The Unsaturated Fatty Acids

Monounsaturated & Polyunsaturated Fat:   Both these types of unsaturated fatty acids are known to be cardio protective as they work to lower LDL cholesterol levels in the blood. While monounsaturated fats remain liquid at room temperature they may start to solidify in the refrigerator, whereas polyunsaturated fats usually remain liquid under both conditions.

Monounsaturated fats are mainly found in natural foods like nuts, avocados, olive oil, and grape-seed oil, corn oil and canola oil. Olive oil, a key component of the much-vaunted Mediterranean diet, known for its cardiovascular health promoting benefits, is the best source of monounsaturated fat at 75 percent.

Olive Oil Is The Best Source Of Monosaturated Fat.   Oils high in monounsaturated fats are thought to be best for cooking with (olive oil being a prime example) as they have the highest oxidation threshold, meaning they remain stable at higher temperatures and do not easily become hydrogenated or saturated.

Polyunsaturated fats, on the other hand, are more vulnerable to rancidity and thus typically have a lower shelf life than the monounsaturated type. However, the polyunsaturated fats, which can be found in vegetable oils, sunflower and cottonseed oil, have been shown to be protective against insulin resistance (which can lead to diabetes) compared with monounsaturated fats, which are thought to promote this condition if taken in excessive amounts.   It must be remembered that, although the unsaturated fats are more beneficial in promoting good health, compared with saturated and trans fats, as well as dietary cholesterol, they will increase unwanted weight gain if taken in excess, given that fat, regardless of its source, contains nine calories per gram compared with four calories per gram for both protein and carbohydrates. However, one positive aspect concerning good fats is they are typically used as an accompaniment to other foods as opposed to a main source of nutrition, like, for example, animal products.  Essentially they can be viewed as a healthy way obtaining the energy promoting effects of fats, with the added benefit of improving health, if taken in moderation.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids:   Chemically classed as a polyunsaturated fat, omega 3 fatty acids are thought to be the most beneficial type of fat available. Often categorized separately from monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, as they are primarily found in fatty cold-water fish such as mackerel, salmon and herring, and have additional health promoting properties such as an ability to significantly reduce inflammation, help prevent cancer growth and improve brain function, omega 3 fats, like other fatty acids, also promote cell integrity and fluidity.

Omega 3 fats are also found, in significant quantities, in walnuts, flaxseeds and flax oil, and in smaller amounts in soybean and canola oils. Their most nutritionally beneficial forms are alpha-linolenic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), all three classed as essential as the body cannot naturally manufacture them. We therefore need to obtain sufficient amounts through our diet.

Additionally, those with the following conditions are thought to benefit from an increased intake of omega 3.

Depression

Cardiovascular Disease

Type 2 Diabetes Fatigue Dry,

itchy skin

Brittle hair and nails

Inability to concentrate

Joint pain

Snack on peanuts instead of potato chips or candy. Peanuts are high in monounsaturated fats and provide a good energy source without all the trans and saturated fats that are contained in typical snack foods. Again, don't overindulge in this good source of fats; but rather, limit their consumption to half a cup per serving.

Use olive oil in salad dressings and in marinades. Olive oil, the most nutritionally beneficial of the monounsaturated fats, is the ideal replacement for the commonly used polyunsaturated vegetable oil.   Replace high calorie, saturated fat containing cheese and meats with avocado and a cold-water fish source such as salmon, when making sandwiches. In doing this you are exchanging bad fats for good fats, thus eliminating unwanted calories from the wrong sources.

The Prodigal Daughter Has Returned
on January 6, 2008 10:31 am
Hello.... And HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!!

I know, it's been a while.  Well alot has happened since I last jotted my thoughts  and updates.  Well let me first say that I got sick with a very bad cold from the last time that I worked out.  I was running on the tradmill and afterwards instead of me properly cooling down and drying off all of the sweat I just left from the gym and went on to work.  Needless to say I ended up with a bad cold, which knocked me on my butt and out of the gym for a solid week.  Then the holidays came along and I celebrated.  (Darn Holidays)  Then I started dating a HS crush.

I promised myself that I would get back into the gym ASAP, but I am ashame to say, that I haven't gone back. I know.. booooo me.  I know that I have to get back into the gym, and I know I will eventually get there.  Was planning on getting back into the gym on Monday January 7th, but stupid went to get my hair done and and this style is not a style that would work well in the gym.. LOL, I should have been thinking.

During the holidays I gained 4 pounds (((UUUGGGHHH))), but I managed to take them right back off.  My goal is to be under 200 pounds by the time 02/08/08 is here... Heck I will even settle for 199, I mean that is under 200, right??  LOL.

I hate the fact that I've been slacking off, but I know that I will be able to get back on that horse again and get back into the gym...  I just need to find a hairstyle that is "Exercise Friendly"

Now in regards to my dating life.. yeah, momma is dating now.. LOL.  I am currently dating someone who I have had a crush on during hs, and I found out that he "says" that he had a crush on me as well.  On this coming Tueday 01/08/08, we have been talking for 4 weeks.  I really like him, and I am into him.. He's a sweetheart, but only time will tell where this is going to go.  We shall see.  We are total opposites.  I just trying to understand this whole relationshp/dating thing, so we shall see.  I know that no individual is perfect and no relationship is perfect.  Well that's all I am going to say in regards to that.

Thursday December 6th 2007

Well we all know that it snowed here on the East Coast yesterday.. and uhhhrummm, when I got up this morning and looked out the door and saw all of that darn ice I knew right then and there that I had a decision to make......

So I decided to.....

Go to the GYM.... LOL

Even though the bus was late..    I manage to be determined and "make it do what it do"

So I did 45 SOLID minutes of Cardio...

 Friday December 7th 2007

Cardio  30 mins on treadmill (10mins running at 3.6 speed)..

Hold on... Did I just say RUNNING???

YEP.. LEMME SAY IT AGAIN..  10 mins RUN-INNGGGGG on the Treadmill Speed 3.6

20ins Walking at 3.3 speed..

Isolated Incline Press (Pecs/Detoids/Triceps) 3 Sets 10 Reps            25lbs (PER ARM)

Isolated Lateral Behind Neck Press ( Deltoid/Triceps) 1 set 10 Reps   25bs (PER ARM)

Therefore I can say that I've worked out for 10 days.  I also find myself PUSHING myself to get up and go to the gym and to do everything that it necessary to acheive.  I am soooo proud of myself.  I hope that am able to motivate others by being a person that can prove that "If It Works, You CAN Work It".

My Name is Candaises Williams..I live in Philadelphia I'm 35 Y.O and I'm ready to make a major change... I can honestly say that I have been "overweight" for most of my life. I have a 10 y.o. son who is my world. I also decided to start my part time "hustle" with my business called "Daises Designs". I decided to look into having the surgery because I beleive that I am at the end of my rope. I've tried everything, Slim Fast, counting calories, going to the gym (I did manage to lose some weight, but it came back". So now I'm here.. I've told everyone within my "little" circle, and I do have their support, although some of my "family" are scared for me, I just told them to pray. I'm hoping to have my inital consultation during the week that I'm on vacation (7/17-7/21). Iam looking forward to this journey in which I am about to embark upon, although it won't be easy, I'm ready for the challenge. I will keep you updated

 th_beauty.gif

Ok.. Today is July 3rd.. I went to a pocketbook demo over the weekend. I saw my cousine there, (She had the surgery last winter @ The Barix Center in Langhorne) She looks great!!!!. While she was eating, I've notice that she only took about 3-5 bites and then commented about how FULL she was.. All I could do was think to myself, "I can't wait until I'm able to say that".

July 5th 2006.. I realized that I've had a real heart-to-heart talk to everyone about the surgery accept for my 10 y.o. So I decided to do just that. I told him about the journey that I am about to embark upon, and asked him if he was alright with it.. I told him that the surgery is a "tool" to help me lose weight.. He turned to me and said that he was alright with it, and that no matter if I'm heavy or thin, I'm still cute. (Awwwww.. he's a sweetie)

Also, I rec'd a call from Faith today @ the Barix Center. I recently (last week) corresponded with her via email. She was telling me that she had an appointment opening during the week of July 5th, I told her that that I was interested in having an appointment during the week of July 17th-21.. Well, I rec'd good news from her today, She says that there is a opening on July 19th.. All I can do is SMILE!!!!! (Woooo-Hooooooo) Faith said that I am a very LUCKY lady because she was trying to find an appt avail during that week. So I'm on my way!!!!

July 13th 2006. Less than a week away.. Right now I'm feeling very excited... And I can't wait until next week... I wonder what is going to be done and said.. I'm so excited.. Taking baby steps towards the new me.

Today is July 24th!!! I just came back to work after being on vacation for a week.. anywhooo. I went to my consultation appt that was scheduled for July 19th.. BOOOYYY!!!! was that a long ride on the bus... I was late 30-45 mins Lol anyway, I must say that I have to agrre with everyone in regards to the facility... It is absolutley beautiful, and the people there are nice... Well to make a long story short, I was unable to meet with the Dr. because the Dr. that I was to meet with only does open procedures, and I wanted my procedure to be done Lap.. :( Now I have to be rescheduled to August 19th.. Boy I tell you, talk about a set back.. But I must understand that ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD!!!!!...

August 15th 2006.. In Less than 24 hours I will be at the Barix Center for my first official consultation, and my mother and my son has decided to go to the consultation with me. My mother asked me if I was scared of having the surgery, I said to her that I wasn't. I guess that's because I "know" what to expect.

August 17th 2006. Well I was already to get myself together to attend my group consultation on yesterday, and then.... I received a phone call... "Ummm Ms Daises, I'm Ms. So-n-So from Dr Brader's office, and I'm very sorry, but, we're going to have to reschedule your appt. to some time next week" I was like WHHHHAAATTTTTTT!!!!!!, OMG, you have to be joking... I wanted to say to the person that I was talking to; "Lady, do you know how much preparation I had to do to set this appt up??? My disabled mother who arranged for Paratransit transportation now has to cancel her ride, which will NOW count against her." All I could do is shake my head.. I was so digusted that I didn't even wash the conditioner out of my hair until THIS A.M. So I decided to chose another facility. So my initial "group" consultation is set up for September 6th @ 6:30 pm. My mom was asking me as to why wasn't my second choice my first choice, I simply told her that it was because I work there.. Now, don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful hospital, but it wasn't my first choice because I wanted to handle this in a very private matter, and I didn't want EVERYONE at work to know what it was that I am about to do.

August 29th 2006.. Ok so far, so good. I've recieved my package in the mail explaining paperwork, creating a food journal, insurance info, etc..etc... Beside the fact that I will have to pay $200.00 for my consult with the Dietician and $200.00 for my psych eval, I feel confident that I've chose the right place. I also read that I must make 2 support group sessions, therefore I'm going to my first session this evening.

September 2, 2006. Well I attended the Support Group (@ Pa Hospital) on Tuesday night, and I ,ust say, I found it to be really informative. To be quite honest by attending the session, I beleive that it put someof us Pre-ops at ease by hearing the post op patients telling of their experience(s). I'm really starting to get excited. I will be attending my consultation on Wednesday evening, I have some questions that I want to ask....

September 6th 2006. Well I will be attending my consultation this evening @ PA Hospital with Dr Wersing.. I just read on the board about the new MANDATORY 6 month thingy, If this is true I really have a lot of questions to ask.... This whole thing is starting to discourage me, I mean it seems as if I get but soooo close and then *POOF* something ELSE goes wrong.. I'm trying to keep the face, but you know what they say about beating a dead horse.... Well, I will be updating you on tomorrow.

September 8th 2006. Well I have attended my consultation. It was an informational consultation and NOT a consultation with Dr. Wernsing (lol). I recieved my inforamation binder, so I'm pretty much on my way. The consultation was conducted by Jim who is the Dietician for the Bariatrics Program @ Penn, and I believe her name is Jupreet who is the program coordinator. They explained in great details about the surgery and afterwards allowed us to ask any question that we may have. The binder that we recieved was excellent. I look forward to meeting with Dr. Wernsing on the 20th.

September 12, 2006

Well, I just recieved a call from Dr Wernsing's office rescheduling my Surgical Consult, but for some reason, I'm not disturbed, I've been reschedule to the first Wednesday in October, which is fine for me. I''ve been thinking about as putting together a list of my goal and things that I want to accomplish, so once I get them together I will display it for all to see.

November 1, 2006. MY MY MY.. where has the time gone... Ok, here's my update. I went to my surgical consult with Dr. Wernsing aand I must say, he was straight forward and to the point, the office staff were very nice, and I LOVED the chairs... :) Well, when I got on the scale, I noticed that I gained some weight. I must admit, I beleieve that I was going thru the "LAST SUPPER SYNDROME. Dr. Wernsing informed me that he would like for me to lose @ least 20lbs vefore the surgery... Afterwards I was informed by his office to sched an appointment to see my M.D.. So I did so... When I got on the scale @ my M.D. office I noticed that I've lost some weight :) And you know what my M.D. was joking with me. Lol he said to me as soon as I seen him, "I know why you are here". He futher explain to me to always remember that the procedure is a TOOL, and he also told me that I must follow up with him more often. He agreed to do the proper paperwork so that the ball can get rolling :) However, he told me that if I do not get approved for the surgery, than he and I will work on a 3 month regimen, I agreed. So right now, I am sched for my Psych eval on Nov. 10th.

December 12th 2006.. Well I've been APPROVED!!!!!!!! OOOhh what a feeling.... I was told by my surgeon's office that all I have to do is get an abdominal us & have a pulmonary test.. My surgery will be sched for late January.. Talk about starting the new year off right...

December 28th 2006 Ok, My DATE has offcially set.. FEBRUARY 8th is my rebirthday.... My abd us has been completed, and as I suspected, I do have gallstones.. My Pulmonary test is sched for January 10th.. Nutrition Classes is January 22nd & P.A.T. and Final Pre-op Consult January 31.. And guess what.. I just recently found out that my son's god-mother had the surgery done 9 month's ago; she's 110 lbs lighter... When I told her that I too am having the surgery she told me that she had a dream about me loosing weight.. and NOW she knows why she had the dream.. BOY does God works in MYSTERIOUS WAYS...

January 10th 2007.  Well, first off.. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!Today I have a Pulmonary Appt.. The appt is at 2:00 p.m. and the current time is 1:02.. So I'm killing a little time (sidebar.. I'm still at work, and my appt is across the street).  Well, I can honestly say, that I've told EVERYONE that needed to know about me having the surgery.. The only thing I can about the rest of the people, I'll tell them when I see them... As I sit here and type these words, all I can say is WOOOWW.. look how far I've came.. my surgery is little less than a month away, and I admit I am getting pretty excited... I hear people say that the surgery is going to change me.. and change who I am... I can believe that to a certain point, howoever, I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE MY HUMBLENESS.. I hear that a lot of people lose that.. My prayer for me is NOT to lose my humble spirit.. I want to be as kind and as considerate 6-9 months down as I am today.... That is my prayer.. My mother often jokes with me saying that I'm going to kick her to the curb.. but that's not true.. I don't see it happening... The only thing I can see is me going out more.. (Not that I haven't done that already).  I forecast a GREAT summer in 2007.  I can remember a time when I use to hate it when spring and summer would come; for me it meant, "Off with the big over coat",  I don't see that happening this  spring/summer..  Lol.... Well, that's all I have to say...

January 26th 2007... Well boys and girls, I am less than 2 weeks away from my new life.... I have so much to say I just hope that I have enought time to say it.. Well, over the weekend I attended my first M&G (Meet & Greet).  The attendees of the M&G were those from the BAF Board of OH.  I must say I really enjoyed myself.  I had the opportunity to   mingle with other sisters who were going through the same thing that I am about to embark upon, we really had a good time, and I look forward to many more M&G's in the future.. ( OH YEAH, SHOUT OUT TO IHAVECATEYEZ for allowing for giving me the inspiration to start experimenting with cooking with SPLENDA (My mom and son & I all agree, that pie was the BOMB!!!!!!) OK, now lemme talk about my new fam BAF... Well, what can I say.. THEY'RE C-R-A-Z-Y!!!, Lol I enjoy coming on the board to see(LURK) what's going on.  Well On Monday, I attended my nutrition class along with my Pre-OP testing.. Now While I was having the Pre-ops done I met with a CRNA. While she was asking me questions , she kept saying that I am going to do GREAT with the surgery, and  she also expressed how happy she is for me...I told her that I'm happy for me also..At this time I'm not nervous yet, just excited Oh yeah, I almost forgot, my Pulmonary test went very well.. I rec'd the OK for the Pulmonologist.. Well, that all I have to say for now..

February 1, 2007 (One Week Away From My Rebirth)

Where should I began.. On Tuesday night, I attended support group, the topic was very interesting; it was about how some people tend to loose their focus after the surgery.. Well, I don NOT plan on doing that. I went to see Dr. Wernsing yesterday, I got weighed in, and I am happy to announce that I lost 15 pounds!!!! WOOOOHOOOOO... Dr Wernsing could do nothing but shake my hand.. I also signed all of the necessary paperwork for my big day. Dr. Wernsing asked me if I had any questions, the only thing that I could ask him was about the tube that goes donw in the nose.. I asked him will I have to get that done?? And all he could do is laugh at me and say that PA Hospital hasn'y done that in years.. (boy was that a relief).  Anywhoo, my last day at work will be Tuesday Feb 6, 2007... I have a lot of things that I need to do by next Wednesday... Well that all I have to say...

My last post before my big day...

February 6th 2007 Well, well...well... What can I say, this is really it... I'm really about to do it.. You know, a lot of people asked me if I was nervous, and I said  to them, "no". I guess it really didn't hit me yet... To day is my last day of work, I will be out for about 6 weeks (my choice), I can't beleive that it really haven't hit me yet... right now I'm just going to say that I am excited.  By next Thurday, I should have my internet connection up, so that I can share my thoughts and feeling on my big day.. WOW..,I was just thinking that the next time that I will be typing on the OH site, I will OFFICIALLY be a LOSER!!!!

Well, That's all for now..

March 27th 2007.. First Day Back To Work. BOY O' BOY..  I just want to take this time out to say THANKS TO EVERYONE who signed my support page, held my name in prayer, and had me in their thoughts.. I am happy to report that I am OFFICIALLY A LOSER!!!!!!!!!  I thank GOD that he brought me through.  I was in the hospital for 2 days.  I was supposed to have the procedure done laparascopically, however, it ended up being an open procedure.  Along with that, the doctor informed me that I had a hernia (I believe that he repaired it) and he also removed my gallbladder.  When I woke up from surgery the first words that came out of my mouth was THANK YOU JESUS!!!!, now the second set of words was "OH MY GOODNESS, SHE'S DEAD!!!" (referring to Anna Nicole Smith.)  Well after my surgery, I had a lot of adjusting to do, and on top of that, my taste buds has changed quite a bit..  Ok, I gotta continue this late, my lunch break is over.

March 28th 2007.. Ok, I'm back.. what can I say... I know, let's talk about the adjusting to the new eating lifestyle, and how my tastebuds ha totally changed.. I have to admit that there were times when I was being a tad bit hard-headed, you know, not eating what I'm suppose to be eating, when I must tell you that everytime I ate something bad, it didn't stay in my body toooo long, and I am thankful for that.  I am currently 7weeks outs and I am down 33 lbs not to mention the 15 pounds that I lost prior to the surgery. I can truly say that I am SOOOOO glad that I have the surgery, and if I could do it all over again I would... When I returned to work on yesterday, everyone was saying that I look totally different, of course I can't see it.. yet...  My energy level finally picked up after 1 month.  I must admit that at first I didn't have a taste for anything but water, I mean I didn't really want to eat, but that change.  I can also remember at one time questioning as to whether or not Dr. Wernsing even did the surgery, but I soon found out when my little pouch was so easily getting full soooooo fast.. I AM SOOOOO GLAD I HAD THIS SURGERY!!!!  Until next time.
