AUGUST 11, 2003-- Plastic Surgery Update-- I HAVE A DATE!
Finally after waiting 3 long years I am getting the excess skin removed. My surgery date is December 31, 2003 so I will have a new body for the new year!
David's surgery date will be January 6th, a week after mine. I wish they could schedule us closer together. We are having the surgery with Dr. Mast in Gainesville, Florida so we have to make that long trek again this Christmas. My mother is planning on coming with us so she can take care of us.
Dr. Mast is wonderful. He did our consultations together. He was very thorough and told us what to expect/not expect. David definitely has to have a full body tuck and he wanted to do a full body tuck on me! I can't believe how much loose skin I have considering how well I hide it in clothes. I am a size 6 but when I am naked I look like a size 20, at least it does to me! When Dr. Mast came in, he looked at me and said "There isn't much of you to work on is there?" I said, "Wait till you see me naked!" I have never been so ready to disrobe in front of a doctor in my life! He was taken back a bit as to how much I did hide in my clothes. He estimates that the surgery will take off about 5 pounds of skin. I grabbed the huge mound of skin on my pubic area and said "I need a hoochie lift!!" He said, "A what-ie lift?" You know, a hoochie, hoohah, pubo-suction lift!! He cracked up and said that he had never heard of that "technical term" and he will write that down for future use. He will make 2 incisions in my pubic area to pull it tight and it will make a scar from the top of my crack to my horizontal tummy tuck incision, oh well.. hair can cover this. It will be nice to have a flat tummy and pubic area for the first time in my life and not have all my pants go up my hoo-hah.
He also asked me where I was from since my accent was stronger than a Kentucky accent. I told him that I was from Texas originally and I guess I still have the thick twang! This is a bit gross but I got up on the table on all fours completely naked and said.. "See all this hanging down??? I want it gone!!!! I wanna look good naked!! This is what my husband has to see when we are.. uh.. intimate!! When we make love, its hard to not laugh when skin is making a clapping sound flapping all together between the both of us." He starting cracking up and then he apologized, "I guess thats not very funny is it!" I told him, "It's OK, its so sad its humorous!! I mean ya gotta keep a sense of humor about this. Thank goodness that David and I both had the surgery so we aren't repulsed by our loose skin!" I think he was taken aback at how blunt I am. He also laughed when I told him that I was a 36 LONG in my breasts and he said that I needed a lift and implants. That will be next year hopefully. If he just did a lift on me and took out all the loose skin, then I would be just an A cup. I really don't want implants but I wanna look good naked!!! I told him that I was already a B- and the only thing I have stuffing the cups were the loose skin!
David and I are really pleased with his before and after pictures and can't wait to have surgery done! We are both taking on 2nd jobs to pay for this since insurance wont pay for it. Dr. Mast agreed in both of our situations that it is for sure MEDICALLY NECESSARY.
David and I both had a good time in Florida. We turned it into a mini-vacation with a side trip to Daytona Beach. It rained almost every day but we did get a few hours of sunshine when we laid on the beach and went swimming in the ocean. We did a ton of walking on the beach and around the boardwalk. It was quite romantic holding hands and looking out at the ocean at night under an almost full moon. We definitely couldn't have done all that walking before our weight loss. We had a blast at the restaurant "Bubba Gump". David is a master impersonator and Forrest Gump is one of his specialties. He ordered everything in his Gump voice and impressed the wait staff there. He also won the trivia contest when we were pitted against a large group at the next table!!! Of course he answered all of the questions in his Gump voice, it was so funny! It was some of the best shrimp I had ever tasted and we ate a lot!!! The restaurant was wonderful and it even had a bench out front under the sign and it had a suitcase and a box of chocolates sitting on it. We took lots of pictures there and cant wait to develop them. We also took some grotesque "before" pictures and will start a new website on our plastic surgery journey.
