Surgeon Testimonial

Milton Owens (COE)
Dr. Owens was very supportive when one insurance recommended another provider and one insurance approved the surgery. When I visited him in May 2007, he was very realistic about what I could achieve and what I could expect. The second time I went in, it seemed like it was a waste of time because we reviewed the new lab results and talked about new meds and resubmitted the paperwork. I guess thats because I am so anxious. LOL. I would rate him as an 9 for professionalism. Dr. Owens gave me his card to call if we had any questions at home. His office staff would get a 8, only because things were not submitted in a timely manner. Carmen is the go to woman. She took care of everything. I was very educated about numerous procedures and chose the RNY. A binder was provided with materials for me to look over in addition to making a list of questions and calling for anymore information. I know about the dangers and side effects. I know I want to be here for the duration to watch my children develop into adults.

Emma you will do just fine having surgery. It was the best thing I ever did. Your kids are soooo adorable, I can see why you want to do it. Good luck with the New Year and the New You!!

Feeling Exhausted!
on January 8, 2008 9:33 am

I had the surgery. I am adjusting more slowly than I anticipated. I guess I just need to let go of my controlling nature. I got really tired today walking in Wal mart so I went home and went to sleep. I have had a little bit of pain on my left side...I'm sure where the major work was done. I try not to medicate because I need to spend more time with the kids too. The day of surgery...I was asking myself what in the heck did I do....I am taking it one day at a time. I am thinking about staying home for the rest of month at least until I feel better. Keep me in your prayers. I know I did this so that I could be here for my kids...its just alot.

Up Again
on December 29, 2007 6:35 am
Wow. Everyone is asleep and I can't seem to rest. I was so tired, I forgot to take my medications last night. All you hear is snoring throughout the house. I feel butterflies in my stomach. Coffee is needed! LOL. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

My Story

Hello everyone. My name is Emma and I am 30 years old. I have been researching RNY for a little over 3 years. I was scheduled to have surgery last summer but it was cancelled due to dual insurances fighting over what was going to be covered and what was not going to be covered. We after trying another diet and gaining with new blood pressure medications, new pain meds, and new depression meds, I decided that I was going to cancel one insurance and continue on to have my surgery. I cancelled my BS of California PPO on November 1st and was able to get scheduled to see everyone again by the 15th. I was going to have surgery again on the 17th but because the military insurance had not updated my third party information, we were delayed once again. So I am looking forward to my new life. I want to be here for my two little children for as long as I can. I have been struggling with my weight since I was a kid. I tried everything....I was even a vegan for 4 years while I was in the military but I think I did more damage to my system than good.
