Surgeon Testimonial

Chris Mann
Outstanding surgeon, highly skilled in his trade, was very friendly to me and has a great bedside manner! Office staff is pretty good except for the satellite coordinator that they used who is now GONE hurray for that. I would recommend him to anyone considering bariatric surgery.

I have lost 105 lbs. I feel wonderful and its fun to buy clothes again. I no longer get worn out or feel people are staring at the fat person. I hope and pray I can maintain my weight and not have it pile back on. I have met some wonderful friends here and without them it would not have been possible. I will be a year out in 11 days!! woohooo!!

wow I have not had a lot of time to update this blog.. I am now down 90.5 lbs.. these pesky last five lbs are very hard to lose but I owe it to the fact I cannot workout due to the fact I have found out I have a bulging disc in my back and it hurts when I move around a lot. I feel so much better not hauling all that weight around and clothes shopping is sooo much better!!!! This last week has been tough with my Grandma in the hospital with only days till she passes away and then my Uncle at the same time having a quadruple bypass just two days ago. My husband leaves for six months starting July 15th and I am really going to miss him. We are going to Aruba or Jamaica for a quick getaway before he leaves.

My Story

Ok my story... I have not always been overweight.  I was a skinny stick figure child and a size 9 all the way from High School till I was about 23 years old.  Through my late 20s I noticed I started gaining some weight.  I had no idea what was going on since I worked on my feet at a fast paced job till one of my friends said something to me.  I had gone from size 9 to size 14.  I lived in a house with no scale and one day I got one and got on and it said 190 lbs. Im big boned and carry my weight pretty good so I thought nothing of it but it put me in diet panic mode.  I have tried EVERYTHING.  It was hard on me because I spent four years as a active duty Marine and I was always in good shape.  My diet attempts have cost me thousands of dollars.  I have taken Xenical, Meridia, FemFen, GNC diet pills, water pills, Herbalife, Ultra 90, TrimSpa,.. I could go on for hours.  I have also tried all the online Ediets, Atkins, Slimfast, liquid diets, You on a diet, weight watchers ect ect ect..  sure a few of them took a few pounds off, only to turn around and gain it all back and then some.  My latest attempt started in August 2006.  Me and my husband went to Washington DC and I was huffing and puffing and knew it was time for a change.  I also got called a fat cow by a man in a musuem because I was blocking his sons view.  I came home and started working out to all my dvd workouts, spent $1200 on a eliptical trainer so I didnt have to go to the gym and workout in front of people and basically went on a 1200 calorie a day diet.  I measured, I poured, I drank water.  I joined a free diet group online that gave me a good start.  I had a group of ladies that also worked out to the same dvds I did so we had our own little group.  I lost 26 lbs and then it came to a scretching halt.  I was gaining and not losing.  I tried SOOOO very hard and basically I was getting totally burned out from working out 60-90 mins 6-7 days a week.  I was hungry all the time and reached for my favorite bad foods... chocolates and greasy fast food.  I knew my blood pressure was bad and then was recently diagnosed with Metabolic syndrome X and put on Metformin.  The Metformin was suppose to help me drop some pounds.  All it has done is make me go to the bathroom a lot and thats about it.  I have a WONDERFUL new primary care doctor at the Air Station that agreed it was time to take the final step... weight loss surgery.  I have been eating good except for every once and awhile I eat some high calorie food. I only drink crystal light and diet soda.  I know that the weight loss surgery is the only other option for me and I want to take care of myself and live a long and healthy life.
