Hi Amy! I'm about 11 months post op and down a little over 100 pounds with only another 10 or so to go. I'm just beginning to having feelings similar to what you are describing. I, too, am looking for a good therapist who can help me sort out my feelings. Although I am thrilled to be a normal weight I am feeling the loss of so much of myself. Even though I hated my fat it was often comforting, always protective, etc. It's a little scary out here at 150 pounds instead of 250. I feel vulnerable and small sometimes. But, you know what?? We can get past this! We are both strong, smart women and I trust this is just a phase we are going through. Talk, talk, talk to friends, therapists, whoever will listen. Take care of yourself and your body and treat yourself gently.

Amy O, I totally agree with Jillian, you look FANTASTIC! I have always heard that we are our own hardest critics. I hope you will seek someone to talk to about your feelings. You are in my prayers.

Amy, I just read you most recent post. I'm surprised you don't see what I see when I look at your "after" picture. I see a very beautiful person. I don't know you, but I'm sure you're special. You're thin, you're in the norm. I'm having surgery in a week and I have about 130 pounds to lose...so I can honestly say there is nothing special about being an attractive fat person who can't cross their legs or ride on a roller coaster like "the norm". This is just my opinion so please don't be offended. I'm glad you're seeing a therapist to help deal with the depressed feelings. Also, have you thought about plastic surgery? If the skin makes you feel bad...toss it! : ) Amy, honest, you look lovely. OH! When I saw your "before" picture, I realized that I have that SAME shirt...did you buy it from Silhouettes? Isn't it nice not to have to order clothes from mags!?! You stay strong girl...you've accomplished so much! ~J

Hello Amy, Im so glad that you found a good therapist. It will make a big difference. Your issues are real, and we don't even think about that part of the journey, when we become "normal". I haven't had my surgery yet, but, I can appreciate your struggle. I also have about 200lbs to lose, and Im 47years old. I know that there will be alot of extra skin to deal with, and a lot of mental issues. We have distorted body images anyways, and need to make this part of our recovery process. Im talking to a therapist already because I know that it will be a problem for me. God bless you on your journey, I hope you find peace. Laury
