Surgeon TestimonialGary KorusDr. Korus is warm, very friendly, sincere and professional. He is through and explains everything so that you will understand. A professional who is very much interested in his profession and this field of surgery.
I found out a few weeks before my surgery that he was also one of my friend's doctor who had the open gastric bypass. She is in love with him! I cannot say enough good things about my doctor. I would recommend him to anyone who is interested in having the surgery.
Also, his staff is excellent! I never had to deal with my insurance company at all. There is a team, his administrative assistant, Debbie, my nutritionist, Karen. All of my appointments were made for me. I just had to show up! I had no headaches like I have seen some of the members go through with producing documents and contacting the insurance companies. I did not have one complaint, because they handled all of this for me.
I also thank my primary care doctor, Dr. Elaine Reed, she knew about his background and the organization of his team.
I thank God for them all!

Living Life Like It's Golden! 5 days ago
July 14, 2008
God is Good! This journey is outstanding! Everyday is a new adventure! I feel like a different person with the same personality. I am loving my new life. My husband no longer wanted to participate, but that is find too! I am thrilled that God gave me a second chance and no one will can take that away from me! I am doing wonderfully well. I will not have my check up this month because I have to take my son for an mri of his knee. I am scheduled for a check up next month. I know I have lost over 50 pounds and lots of inches. I am just loving this new found life and know that God has so much more in store for me.

My Story
12/07 I am embarking on a new journey of my life. I became extremely overweight after my last child, 16 yrs. ago. The weight came on slowly, but year after year I kept piling the pounds on. A marriage after 23 yrs. through all sorts of ups and downs ended. I lost a daughter at the age of 23. As well as, female issues. I came to a place in my life where I no longer cared about myself. I was tired, but not defeated!
I have a couple of friends that have had open gastric bypass and they are doing wonderfully well with their weight! Before my decision I researched, read and became a member on OH. God just put it in my spirit to go ahead and have the surgery. So, this is what I am doing!

I arrived at the hospital with my oldest son at 11:30 am at the short procedure department. It was around 12:30 when they had me go to the back to put on my gown. I waited from 12:30 to 2:45. The patient before me had complications, so I did not go into surgery until around 4:00 pm. My poor son was a basket case. He came back to the hospital at around 6:30 expecting me to be out of surgery! So, he became nervous and called for back up! (My ex-husband/his dad). I did not get out of surgery until about 9:00 pm. All went well. I had the lap gastric by pass instead of open and so glad that I did!!! Thank you Lord! I feel great, hardly any soreness! Getting in my Isopure protein drinks, water, tea and broth. I think I am doing well! Praise the Lord!!!!

Hey everyone, I am home. Thank you for all of your prayers and concerns. I have very little pain. My hospital stay was pleasant, my nurses, Princess and Sabrina were extremely warm and friendly and cared about doing a great job. My post-op visit is scheduled for 3/25/08.

Hi Family, I have been doing well! I can see a difference already - my knees do not hurt, I drove today for the first time since surgery - my stomach is not touching the steering wheel!
I will see Dr. Korus tomorrow for my 2 week check up - the scale will tell the story!

Saw my doc today, he says I am doing well, stitches are healed, getting my protein and water in and dropped 12 lbs. Today is the start of my puree phase. He wants me to come back in a week because he is going away on vacation. Now I have to incorporate my exercise - step up my game!

Down 7 lbs.

4 week check up - lost 5 lbs. - total: 24 lbs. I am now eating regular foods. I will go back to work on 4/30/08. I went walking tonight at St. Joseph's University track with a girlfriend. We walked two miles. We both enjoyed ourselves! I had to motivate my girl to go, but she gave in and was happy that she did! My left knee is a bit stiff this morning, because of Mr. Arthur, but I am sure this will pass.

6 week check up - lost 4 lbs. - total 27 lbs. Doc says I am right on target. My next check up is scheduled in May. Thank you God! This is wonderful! Feeling so much better already! It is nice to bend over without losing oxygen! If I hold something in my hand it is no longer sitting on my stomach! My face does not look swollen any more! I am not waking up at night and gasping for air! I can get out of bed without having to wait minutes before walking! Thank you Lord!
God is Good and so is Life!!!

Everything is going wonderfully well for me! I am constantly losing. I am not weighing myself, I only weigh in when I go to the doc. I will not buy a scale until I am at my 6th month and then I know I will definitely have to weigh at least biweekly. I can tell by clothes. Before surgery my pants were 22-24, now I am in an 18! I am still wearing my shirts 2x and 3x because I always bought them flowing and loose. Some look a bit big, but for the most part they look nice without hugging my tummy.
For the first time, my husband says to me yesterday that, "You are losing a lot of weight". I said, yes, my co-workers tell me everyday that I am coming down/disappearing/skinny!!! I suppose he can no longer not say anything!!! Whatever, I do not need anyone's approval. The mirror is the proof!!! God is good!
I am not having any issues with my surgery. Loving every day of it!! So thankful to the Lord!!!
June 3, 2004
I had my 3 month check up today and I am 18 lbs. lighter, down for a total of 45 lbs. and feeling great!!! Doc says I am doing well and that I should incorporate more exercising. I will join the gym at my job this week.
