Surgeon Testimonial

Jeffrey Lord, M.D.
I've recently attended the Weight Loss Surgery Seminar with Dr. Lord at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. My first impression of him....he is hilarious. He had my husband and I laughing throughout the seminar every time he would say \"jacked up\" in reference to procedures performed by lessor \"reputable\" surgeons.rnrnAnyone who would recommend and go so far as to assist with this type of life-altering procedure for his own mother is the only one I trust with my life in his hands.rnrnI've since met with Dr. Lord for my initial consult. I came completely prepared with medical records as far back as 6 years, psych eval, recent endoscopy results, and office notes for 5 of the 6 visits required with my PCP for insurance purposes. He was very laid back, which I like, and explained everything to me with absolute clarity. I was half done with the process at this first visit. All I needed from there was the bloodwork, EKG and chest x-rays. I also needed the nutrition education class, behavior modification class, one-on-one with the nutritionist, and last, but not least, I had to attend a support group meeting.rnrnEveryone at Dr. Lord's office is very pleasant, extremely helpful, willing to answer as many questions as I have. I couldn't ask for a better surgeon and his staff!

100 pounds gone forever!
on December 7, 2009 11:42 am
I am officially 100 lbs lighter today than my highest weight of 283 pounds in August 2008.  Since surgery, in April of this year, I've lost a total of 82 pounds!  I will NEVER be that heavy again, and I feel absolutely wonderful!  43 pounds to go until I hit my goal weight.  Wish me luck!

7 Months Post-op
on November 17, 2009 6:50 am
As of today, I am 7 months out.  I feel absolutely amazing.  I now weigh 187, for a total weight loss of 96 pounds.  I'm sooo close to that "100 pounds lost mark" I can taste it!  When I started this journey, I was wearing a size 28.  I'm currently in a size 14.  I haven't seen a size 14 since I was in middle school!  I'm now starting to run a bit.  I can't run a constant mile, but I'll run a couple of minutes and then walk briskly a couple of minutes.  I'll get there though!  I'll post again when I hit 183 - 100 pounds lost!!

Under 200!
on September 8, 2009 6:58 am
I did it!  I've accomplished another mini-goal of mine.  As of Saturday, I am officially in onederland - I am 199.6!  I'm saying good-bye to the 200's and never going back!  What a terrific feeling.  I haven't been under 200 since I was 18, and that was only for a short time while on phen-phen.

My Story

I'm a 31-year-old mother of two with a husband and 4 step-children.  I've been a legal secretary for 5 years now for a criminal defense attorney and have made the decision to go back to school....again....to get my associate's degree in legal assisting/paralegal.  I do the same work a paralegal does, I just don't make the money they do.  That will all change soon enough.

I currently weigh 265 pounds.  When I attended Dr. Lord's Weight Loss Seminar six months ago, I was up to 278 pounds - my highest weight.  I've struggled with being overweight my whole life.  I've tried and failed too many fad diets to count.

I was referred to a local surgeon here in Panama City in 2004 for the Roux-n-y and after attending that surgeon's seminar, I backed out.  Something just didn't "feel" right.  In the meantime, I've done tons of research and have determined that the field of WLS has come a great distance.  My aunt had the Roux-n-y done in November of 2007 and has done tremendously.  It's because of her, that I've gotten over my fears and have pushed forward with changing my life.
