Surgeon Testimonial

Robert Cywes, M.D., Ph.D.
Amazing bedside manner, very experienced and compassionate. Spent hours with us initially to relay surgical info himself.
Can be sarcastic. Sometimes refuses to give out weight loss pins. Upsets me.
Office staff was initially rude at times and very slow in relaying information in my opinion, now much improved.
N/A.
Be prepared to wait. Dr. Cywes spends a lot of time with each patient which is why I am willing to wait. He will spend the same amount of time with me. Individualized care is very important to Dr. Cywes.
Aftercare in the way of office visits, follow ups and fills is strongly emphasized. Very important to him. However, support group is only once a month.
Very open about risks.
Rating: Dr. Cywes- *****, Office staff and wait time- ***.
Both are great, I would be willing to put up with a bad bedside manner with an amazing surgeon. Would prefer both in one person.

Hello Dawn. I just came across your story on this site and am writing to congratulate you on your healthier life. You have a lovely family. Would you tell me about becoming a Certified Bariatric Life Coach? Who does the certification? Do you know how I could find a coach in the Memphis area? Thanks for sharing your story -- such an inspiration to all. Marilyn W.

Hello Dawn welcome to OH. I'll be having my rny on 5/28/08. I'm in Nashville Tn and have no family here. I used to live in Ft. laud. Fla. and 20 yrs ago I was an LPN on a med surg floor. It will be hard for me to go to support groups because I'm a single mom of 2 adhd kids. Your profile is very inspiring. Would you let me add you to my friends list so I can pick your brain once in a while? I am now a letter carrier for the past 20 years and eat Thanks and God Bless. Michele

Hey Dawn,
thanks for the support, my wls id 4-28-08. I have been up and down with this protein diet. Do you think I still have time to salvage myself. I have my pre-surg visit 4-23-08 and my blood draw. My bmi 37, w/djd. I am hoping my liver is okay, since my bmi is under 40.

Hi Dawn,
I am also new to the OH site. I am 5+ years Post op from the Rou-N-Y. I had lost a total of 170# but have put 30 back and really am needing some encouragement right now. If there is anyone that can HELP me right now, I would very much appreciate it.

Hi Dawn,
I am sorry, I just thought of something else. I have lots of gas, it's really bad. What can I do for that? Also I am try to drink my 48oz of water but my friend has caution me against trying to drink so much water as it could very well strech my new pouch. I would appreciate any feed back on both issues. thatnks.
