Tomorrow's the Day!!

Mar 29, 2009

So...... my nerves are shot. By this time tomorrow I will have started on the biggest part of this adventure. The actual proceedure. My surgery is not scheduled til 1:40 pm so I expect I will be arriving in my room between 6 & 7 pm. My daughter will be bringing my laptop to the hospital Tuesday, so I hope to add something then.

Two Days to Go!

Mar 27, 2009

Only two days to go! I'm a little nervous, but nothing I can't handle. The endoscopy that I was terrified about went very well. I slept through the whole proceedure, thank you Dr. Dunnican!

Sorta having last supper tonight. Making chicken parm without all the breading. I won't be having any pasta. I haven't had pasta or other carbs for about three months to get ready for the surgery.

I've been busy doing all sorts of stuff to get ready for recovery. I'm planning on being home almost seven weeks, so there are a few things that I want to do while I'm home. I know, I know - take it easy!!!! I'll be doing that, but there are somethings that I know I will be able to do now that I got the heavy lifting stuff done. I've got papers to go through, rearrange and clean crap out of drawers in my bedroom, thing that I can do sitting in a chair or on the bed. Any thing heavy that needs to be moved I'll get some one else to do.

I've also got a short trip planned. My son is graduating from college mid-May. Can't miss that. The doctor has already given his approval since we are driving and can stop often. Stopping frequently is something that I do anyway, so no real changes there.

Approved!!

Mar 09, 2009

Found out yesterday that my insurance approved the surgery on Friday. I was told that the company would take 30 days, but the exchange of information was done over the phone and took only 30 minutes! Yeah! They only approve one night stay right away, the other three days that I will need are approved after admission to the hospital. Getting more nervous now.

Got A Date!

Mar 06, 2009

Well - I did it! I've gotten all my hoops and hurdles jumped, lost the 10% and got my surgery date. On March 30 I will be having gastric-bypass surgery at Albany Medical Center. My pre-op is on the 18th and the endoscopy is on the 25th. I'm more nervous about the endoscopy than the surgery. Any one else fearful of this proceedure?
