Surgeon Testimonial

Kahdi Udobi, M.D.
I just had my first surgical consultation today so I really don't have alot of information to form an opinion as to my likes/dislikes with regards to the surgeon or his staff. They were friendly and helpful. Dr. Udobi himself was kind and patient. The process for me is just beginning but thus far, other than the 3 week wait to get an appt, it hasn't been bad. I rec'd a large manual, which I read twice while waiting to be seen. I didn't realize when I went in that I would be wearing a hospital gown, so I hadn't shaved my legs in a few days. Dr. Udobi was unperturbed by that. He said \"Americans worry too much about body hair...\" lol. He asked if I had any questions and if my family was supportive of my having surgery. He said that would be important. He gave me a list of things to do before my next surgical consultation including a heart stress test, some blood work, meet with a psychologist and a dietician, etc. I asked Gayle to put in the Tricare request for surgery so that when everything was completed we could proceed if I was approved. She said she would. If possible, it is important I have the surgery before the holidays so my husband can take some leave to help me with our children, the household jobs, and my recovery. He is a RN/BSN, so having him close by will be of great benefit. All in all, my appt went as well as could possibly be expected.

Ended up back in the ER this week...

...with infected JP Drain sites, and I still truly feel like crap.  I am on two antibiotics, in addition to the myriad of other pills I have been on since surgery.  I stay in pain most all the time, even with percocet or vicodin, and the protein shakes nauseate me for a long time.  I can't even stand the smell w/out feeling like I might throw up.  I don't know what to do or how to feel better. I think it will help some if I can get these drains out on Tuesday at my 2 week post op appointment.  My incision scar is healing nicely it seems.  I am still on the liquid diet, but out of fear I am not getting in all my protein I tried a teensy weensy little piece of well chewed up baked cod that was left over in the fridge.  I got two baby fork size bites in but even after chewing  and chewing they still felt lodged in my chest. So, no more fish, and no more rushing the doctor's diet plan if I can help it.  I just can not tolerate the protein shakes so I will need to find other liquid methods for now.  I see my surgeon in a few days and will talk to him about it then.  I have been so tired and resting as much as I can, hoping to heal soon.
