Surgeon Testimonial

Gary Anthone
My first impression of Dr Anthone, was wow he is actually listening to me. That impression never really changed, his bedside manner is incredible. Dr. Anthone's office staff is very competent and efficient, they are the gurus for insurance approval. Dr. Anthone knows his business and will explain everything in detail about the procedure and the expectation for aftercare. On a scale of 1-10 Dr. Anthone is definately an 11, I work with physicians on a daily basis and he is on top of it all (and I have a high opinion of my PCP too). Both Dr. Anthone's surgical competence and his bediside manner are second to none. I would recommend Dr. Anthone to anybody considering WLS. Dr. Anthone is the exception to the rule....he is the best in all aspects, and I am a very critical patient with high expectations being a medical professional.

WOW....Where to start
on January 5, 2008 10:36 pm

I am three months post-op and loving life.  After surgery I had a couple of bumps in the road, but nothing I would call a complicaiton.  I experienced horrible nausea that was not helped by today's finest medicines and let me tell you I tried them all (6 different scripts in all).  Dr. Anthone uses a J-tube, which became my best friend, that ended up getting infected.  That was taken care of by a 2 week round of antibiotics.  After the infection was cleared up it was smooth sailing.

As of Jan 3rd, I was 3 months out and had lost 52 pounds.  That would be 59% of my excess weight.....hummmm you are expected to reach 50% by 6 months, I'm thinking I will be done losing at 6 months YEAH!!!  Wouldn't that be grand.

With >50 pounds gone forever my life has changed dramatically.  I have gone from a size 22 to a comfortable 16.  I can keep up with my kids no problem.  I have more self-esteem.  My scrubs literally hang on me, I need new clothes, but I have 45 pounds to go to reach my personal goal.  The DS amazes me to no end, I have not really changed my eating habits, but the quantity of what I eat.  I do not have gas issues and have never pooped more than 3 times on any day.  People are not kidding when they say hold on it is one hell of a ride.....and I am loving the ride!!!

Last night was the night for my sleep study.  As you probably guessed....I have sleep apnea.  Although it is mild to moderate they have recommended use of a CPAP.  Along with that I went in for the beginning of month 2 of the physician monitored diet and he has decided that I probably have HTN (ok, I have been telling him for years that my BP is always high).  I love my PCP so all is forgiven that way.  I do however get the distinct impression that he thinks I can do this without surgery...sorry, been there done that gained it all back.  So on I go playing the insurance game.  Even if I lose 10-15 pounds I will still have co-morbities to present to the insurance company.
