Surgeon Testimonial

Wai Yip Chau, MD
My firsrt impression of Dr. Chau was very good. He seem to care about peoples heath. His office and the staff was very professional. He explained everything very careful and in plain english where you could understand what his was talking about. He told me all the pros and cons of all the procedures and what he thought as a doctor what was best. So far I rate Dr. Chau a 10.

Gina...I see you are fast approaching your surgery date and wanted to let you and your surgeon will be in my thoughts and prayers. Please don't be afraid of the diet afterwards. I am telling myself that its not a diet but a way of life. I will no longer live to eat but eat to live and enjoy smaller protions instead of eating until there is no tomorrow. You will be successful....look at how well you are doing making this major decion to take control of your life and stop food from controlling it. ((( hugs))) Belda

HAPPY WTH THE WIGHT LOSS, BUT WISH IT...
on July 14, 2008 5:30 pm

July 14, 2008........................................

Well today I went for  my 4th fill.    The weight is still  coming off very slow.    My pants are still getting bigger (hanging in the front) , but my hips are not going anywhere.    During my two 15 min. breaks  I walk around the building at  work, but that does not  seem to be enough.   I really need to get on the bike up stairs in the attic  or get back on the track.   I am really going to try to get up tomorrow morning and do 8 laps around the track.   Don't get me wrong I am happy with the weight loss I have,  but I really would like  to loose 10 lbs. by  the end of September.

On the Move Again
on April 14, 2008 11:48 am

The scale is on the move again!!!!!   The pounds are coming off very slow, but I am not complaining.   All my suits are now  too big,  and I refuse to pin them up anymore.   I do feel a little sad with giving my old clothes away, but I realize that my sadness is  becuase I am loosing a friend.  Food has been my  friend for  20 years and I  know, with  faith and prayer I will get thought this.  Food will always  be a  part of me,  and what  I mean by that statement is; I will alway have an  food addiction, but now I have the tool to  be in control.

The Scale is all over the place
on March 31, 2008 12:34 pm
March 31, 2008

Well,  today makes 4 months since my banding.  I was doing very good in the begining and now the scales is all over the place.   One week I can be down 2 lbs. and the next week I will be up 1 lb.   I starting walking hoping that will help but, now I am not moving at all.    Don't get me wrong I am happy  for the 30 lbs. I have lost but I need a little more.

I went to get a fill on March 24th and I was sick as could be.   That was the first time I could not eat anything.   You would think that would be a good think, but not.   This week is my TOM so pray with me that after that I will be back on the move.

My Story

Well my story.......My weight problem started about 20 years ago.   I was 20 years of age and had given birth to my second child.   For some reson I could not loose the weigh as easy as I did with my son.  Everyone told me that it would be harder  because with girls the weight is harder to loose.  My husband told me that the weight did not bother him at all, but I know it did.
I tried every diet that I know and took diet pills to loose.  I would loose, but as soon as I stopped taking the pills or but something in my mouth that was sweet, back the weight came.   So I just said forget it and I  just started to pay clothes that did not make me look as big.
Then about 5 years ago things started happening in my life and the weight just started climing.
This is the biggest I have every been,  278 lbs.

December 2006, I went  to see my PCP and expressed my feeling regarding the weight (I am tired, when  I go up stairs I stay, I have fallen down the stairs 2 times, etc., etc.....).
He explained to me that there was a procedure that he was sure that I could  get approved  for but it is not a quick fix.   It is a tool and I have to work the tool.   He said let me do some research and we will talk about it more in January.   The first month of my six month supervised diet.

My PCP gave me three doctors to go see and out of the three he wanted me to really think about NJ Bariatrics.  He have heard very good and pleasing thing about them.  But the only thing was they were not in my insurance network.   So I would have to pay a deductible up front and then they will bill your insurance and you husband's second.  With the trust I have in my PCP, I knew I was not going to look anywhere eles.
I went to a conference that they were giving at their office and I  did some reseach of my own and felt very comfortable with them.

I made a appointment at NJB and I was seen by Dr. Chau.  He gave me  the outline I had to follow (my PCP and his staff followed the outline, we crossed our t's and dotted our i's) to get approved by my insurance campany.   On September 14th NJB submitted all my paperwork NJPUS/BCBS and on September 26 I go my call that I was approved.
