Surgeon Testimonial

Tim Faulkenberry, M.D., FACS
After reading all the posts about surgeons who are just in it for the money, I can assure you, Dr. Faulkenberry is not one of those surgeons. He has a great bedside manner and for my 8 week post-op visit it genuinely seemed he cares about my progress. He never rushes me out of an appt and lets me ask all the questions I have. He's been a great surgeon to me (RNY) and my husband (VSG). I would recommend Dr. Faulkenberry to anyone looking to have WLS who wants a knowledgable, thorough, and supportive surgeon who will be there for you pre-op as well as post-op. I really feel I made the best choice in choosing Dr. Faulkenberry.

Hi guys!  My name is Diana and I live in Austin, TX.  I am happily married (since I was 19 ) with a beautiful daughter who will be 3 in March.  I have always been on the chubbier side, but as an adult is when I packed on the pounds.  I've tried numerous diets, Weight Watcher, Atkins, Body for Life, South Beach, etc. and have been able to lose about 30 lbs before plateauing and losing hope.  I have tried getting the RNY before with a previous employer's insurance and was turned down.  This time I'm back with the right insurance and hoping to get my surgery in May.  I have a few insurance hoops to go through before they give me a final approval, but I will get it done.  The closer it gets to May, the more bad I truly want this life change for me and my family.  Oh yeah, I failed to mention...my husband will be getting the RNY at the same time!   We want so badly to lead healthier more active lives for our daughter.  May she never know what it is to have a 'fat mom' or be a 'fat kid' herself!!

100+ lbs gone forever!!!
Today I weighed myself and I'm 161 lbs!!! WTF?!?!?!  I've lost 101 lbs so far on this journey.  To me, that is so utterly amazing. I've been living it up and having a blast the whole way.  Last weekend alone I did things I hadn't done in years (if at all!) I went hiking, played kickball, went to a pool party (which means I totally had to buy a bathing suit!!!) and met tons of new great good peoples.  It was an amazing weekend.  Feeling gooooood :-)

Feeling better...
on March 28, 2012 12:23 pm
The past few days have been hell.  I thought I was going to go into either a panic or anxiety attack at any moment.  With the whole house thing going on (which is no longer going on....there goes our earnest money $$), and talking to a few great friends I feel 10 times better.  Ahh, it's nice to have friends who understand the shit I'm going through!

That I just did 5.25 miles in 45 minutes!!!  OMG.....I would have never thought that possible before RNY.  I'm definitely loving my new tool!!

1st goal met!!
on March 27, 2012 6:51 am
This week I totally skipped past my original goal of 175.  Last week I weighed in at 176.4 and today I'm 174.4.  Woohoo!!!  I feel and look way better.  I am totally having self conscious saggy skin issues though.  It's rough.  We'll see how it goes.

1 lb from my original goal :-)
on March 20, 2012 2:36 pm
Yep, that's right.  I'm 1 lb away from my original goal.  I started this journey at 262 lbs.  I remember pre-op telling myself that if I got to 175 I'd be perfectly happy.  I never thought hitting the 175 lb mark was even attainable.  Well here I am nearly 9 mos post op and I'm 1 lb away from that goal.  And yes, if my body stopped losing weight right now I would still be happy with where I am.  I've come a LONG WAY!  Saying that, I still want to lose another 31 lbs.  My surgeon and I both think I can get to 145.  Since working out with the personal trainer here at work I've seen my weight loss drastically increase.  I physically feel better when I exercise and can see and feel my body changing shape.  I believe I have it in me to continue on in this journey and to lose the remaining 31 lbs.  I've never felt so great!  I've changed the way I think and I've changed my relationship with food completely.  It's not an overnight change and it will require ongoing effort on my part.  It's easy to get off track (for holidays, birthdays, etc.)  But, I am still so thrilled with my RNY!
