Surgeon Testimonial

Michael A. Schweitzer M.D.
During the consult I was upset with Dr S. I explained which surgery I wanted then in one sentence he said it wasn't for me. I sat there with my lips poked out the rest of the consult while he was explaining RNY. He then asked if I had any questions. Once explaining all the reasons and research I had for DS he apologized for the quick assumption and we decided on the DS.

Ok C now I'm confused
on April 17, 2008 7:11 pm
I went to Dr Afram's seminar today. He seems like he got all his stufff together. Complication rate low, expierience 22 yrs, head of bariatric surgery for his office. I was sure I wanted the sleeve. Now I don't know. Of course since he doesn't do the sleeve his judgement is biased. He wants my coins, if you know what I mean. It just seems to me like the sleeve is less invasive and lower complications. But again it is new and there is much research done on the gastric bypass. They were ready to sign me up today and start my 3 month insurance requirement. Well I have my other seminar with Dr. Elariny in Fairfax on 5/6. I been overwieght 20 years I can wait till then to make my final decision. He does both procedures so I'll see what he has to say. Jeesh, now I'm on the fence. Dayum seminars!

Made up my mind
on April 14, 2008 10:34 am
I think I have made up my mind that I want to have the VSG surgery. It seems like a good choice for lower BMI patients. I thought I wanted to have the Lap Band but it seems the VSG is less maintenance. I have a seminar to go to at Dr. Elaring's office in Fairfax. I have heard good things about him from this site and from friends. I have to cancel my seminar for Thursday at Dr. Afram's office in DC. He does an open bypass and I'm more comfortable with a laproscopic surgery. Maybe I'll go just to listen, I already took the day off.
