At my one year mark!! Have lost a total of 105 pounds and now am sitting at a comfortable 125. I am happy to report that I have had no complications with my operation! And very happy to report that I am now in a size jr. 0 or 1 depending on how they are made, and of course I sometimes go into the little girls section to get some of my jeans.. which in that department I wear a 14 :) I am so happy I did this and would do it all over again!
Well here I am 7 months out and down 80 pounds!!!! Sorry it has been so long since I have posted but I can't seem to sit still long enough to log on for more than a few mins. I have had so much more energy since my operation... so I am always out and about doing something here or there! I have found that I am a very slow looser... which can be annoying at times .. so I just keep trying to explain to myself that it is better this way.. not only for my insides but for the skin thing too. The slower I loose the more time my skin has to catch up with my loss. So in other words ... Yes where I do have some saggy skin.. it is not as much as I have seen from some of the other patients. Not bragging or na na a boo boo anything here.. just trying to convience myself that being a slow looser has some good kick-backs :)
On a very bright note... I finally graduated this past week. I quit high school with only a month and a half left before my original graduation... got married moved to a different state with different criterias, so when they told me that I would have another year before I could graduate.. I basically took off and never looked back... then I started having children and taking care of my household. Well when my youngest, Keni, started school this year I decided it was time for mommy to go back and finish what she started so many years ago. So that I did and graduated last week!!! I did not go for a GED I did go back and finish high school.. and now I will get a real diploma .. and will walk with the seniors this year for graduation! My oldest is in the 10th grade and I will be graduating with the seniors of her high school.. which one of is her boyfriend. hehe I am just so happy and proud of myself. :)
On another bright note... My best friend in the whole world is having RNY on December 1, 2006!!!! I am so proud of her.. she has been very brave since her first appointment!! I do hope all the best for her and I know in my heart and soul that things will go very smoothly for her!! I love you Chrissy!!!!

Ok so here is a bit of my story. When I hit my teens I started getting 'chunky' from there and add three kids and three c-sections the 'chunky' went to seriously over-weight. Sure, I did the diet thing.. the diet pill thing.. the exercise thing, and yes it would work but it just seemed that as slowly as it would come off.. the faster it would come back...plus a pound or two. I am the type of person that if I looked at it.. I was gaining a few pounds. When I first heard of WLS I thought of the people who got it done were cheating. But the more I looked into it and found that it was not cheating that it was only a tool and that you still have to work at it. I for some reason thought they would get the operation and never again have to worry about what they ate or did. Now after my research I know that having the operation is only the first step. You more than ever will have to watch what you eat and count the calories and the fat and most importantly watch your protien ...not to mention making sure you stay away from sugar. And on top of that you have to exercise!! It is a must. So now I look at it as a stepping stool, something to help you get on the right track, something to help you have the energy and stamina to get up and get out there and exercise. At this point I just think to myself what is the point.. I will work my butt off and see nothing from all of my effort. I hope that the initial weight lost with WLS will help set my mind at a state to want to see more come off and to stay off!!
Am I going to miss things...??? Sure... the sins of eating. You know they say if something is good it is either illegal, immoral, or fattening!! I am pretty sure I can live with out this constant need for sweet things and fattening things. I want to be able to eat to live not live to eat.
Since October of last year (2005) I have been going through the motions of trying to get WLS again. Now everything seems to be on the go... all i's dotted and t's crossed...now just the wait for the date.... April 13th. Oh and one other thing...although my insurance has been great up to this point .. approving everything ... my dr.'s office is not going to put in the actual forms for the operation yet.. they will be doing it 30 days out.. which of course is coming soon... but I just hope that they will be doing the final approval with no problems. I have heard many others that went through Tri-Care having no trouble at all with getting the final approvals. Usually if a Doctor recommends something Tri-Care is more than willing to go with that decision.
Ok I will stop babbling for now and update when I get more news. :)

Hiya everyone!! I have gotten my insurance papers in the mail today.... And all went well. It was approval papers :) It apparently only took 1 day for Tricare to review and approve the procedure because my dr's nurse said that she was going to fax the info to Tricare on March 13, 2006 and the approval letter was written on March 14, 2006. Yay .. Tricare is great.. they have for me always been on the ball with things like refferals and getting to you in a timely manner. Anyway.. I guess all is a go now. Not as nervous as I thought I would be. I have a wonderful support system of family and friends. My mom and hubby's mom are both coming next month to be here and help out. Both Mom's have experience with RNY .. one has had it and one has had a very close friend go though it. They are both going to be loads of help. Also I met a patient of Dr. Dunshee... she lives near me and we have started talking and being there for eachother for support and such. She had her operation about 3 weeks ago and is doing great!!! Well done hun!! :) I am so proud of her!! Keep up the great work.
Well I am off to do the happy dance a little more and to make out my list of things that I wanna take to the hospital with me... which I know is still a few weeks out but oh well gives me something to do to make me think I am really prepared for this... which I will get there and find that I have forgotten something.. always happens LOL. :)

OK all is going well for now.. on the liquid diet.. and yes have cheated on it but with taking the advice of my dr. that if I do need to cheat.. keep it small and stick with protiens. So I have had some eggs and cheese and canned chicken.. I found that I don't like tuna anymore.. hmmm??? dunno why, because I used to like it very well. I did have my pre-op appointment and hospital registration 2 days ago.. that went great.. everyone was very nice and made me feel at home.
I am getting loads of support from my family and friends! This is making everything easier for me to deal with ... not that I don't want to do this but I have been getting those days where I am saying .. hmmm I could just diet again and not have to have RNY... then the next moment I am fine with everything and ready to get it done and over with so I can start working on the new healthier me. I have been assured that I am not the only one with those feelings.. where one moment no I don't wanna do this and the next ok yes let's do it.
My mom comes this Saturday and I am very anxious to hurry up and go pick her up at the airport!! My mother-in-law is coming next Wednesday (the day before my operation). It is wonderful to have family wanting and willing to be there with you in the times of need. Although with two Gran's being here my kids will be spoiled rotten in no time at all!!!
Oh and on a personal note (home life) My oldest daughter finally got her driver's permit yesterday. On our way home I stopped the car once we got into our neighborhood to let her drive us the rest of the way home. The two of us laughed so much and so hard...we were both in stitches and crying with ribs hurting before she could even take off. She did do pretty good.. a bit jerky with the steering but very well for her first time ever driving. hehe It was fun and I just wanted to share it with you all :)
I would like to say thank you to the people that have emailed me with warm wishes it is very spirit lifting to see that even people that you don't know care too.
Wish me luck for next Thursday April 13th I will be having my operation at 2:30 pm. Good luck to all of those about to start their journey and Great job to those that have already started it! :)

Hello everyone... I came home yesterday and on the road to recovery. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be ... but it also wasn't a walk in the park either :) So far everything has been tolerable... except when they had that drain tube in.. I think it was in the wrong area.. and i constantly had the hiccups and very bad shoulder pain from it... but once it came out the shoulder pain instantly went away and haven't felt it since. A bit low on energy so I will up date more later and just grab some rest for now.
Take care everyone and hugs to all!!!
April 17, 2006
Hello again everyone. Each day I am feeling better and stronger. I am rarely taking my pain meds ...but I have noticed that I am hungry...?!?!?! Today I am 4 days out and have already felt that I needed something to eat... so I did. I had 2 bites of my daughter's Ramen soup with cheese added... chewed it till I couldn't feel it in my mouth any longer.. then had two bites of my son's mac and cheese. I happen to feel much better since I took those bites.. but guilty as well because I didn't do exactly what my dr. said to do. My follow up won't be till next Tuesday with the doc and I should be on full liquids by then anyway.. but I know I had better take it easy with venturing out on my own and eating things.. so I am going to send my mom to the store today (she loves shopping so no big task for her hehe) to get some of the other full liquid diet supplies like cream of wheat and such. If anyone else has experienced this please let me know and what you did to get around it or what you stuck with eating... ugh I am probably the only one that has eaten this soon out :(
Take care all... will write later.
April 18, 2006
Hello again :) all is going well still and each day I get back more energy... still eating but making sure i stick to a very bland and semi-liquid diet :) Since I have left the hospital I have lost 11 pounds.. of course this is unofficial... but I have to keep my records as well here at home and that is all from my home scales. I have my one week follow up with the doc next Tuesday and I will find out my official weight loss from his office.
Take care all!!!!
April 20, 2006
Hi all... well all is still going great.. starting to have the feeling of 'too good to be true' hehe everyone is impressed with how fast I recovered and wanted to start eating again... I have been reading and lots of other people coming home from having RNY had been sent home eating small things .. like smooshies, so I guess I am not as bad as I first thought. Although I would be mighty embarassed to tell my doc what all I have been eating since he sent me home on a 1 week clear liquid diet :(
I am down 17 pounds and feeling great!!! Did get to venture out yesterday and go shopping.. was out and about for several hours then later that night went to a fashion show that my oldest daughter was in ... was a bit sore after the long day but a good night's rest took care of that :)
Hugs to all and Take care!!
April 25, 2006

Hiya all!! Down 25 pounds and 2 weeks out :) Feels great knowing that those pounds will not return. I don't know why but I think I am not losing that fast but everyone says that people lose at a different rate. So, just gotta keep my chin up and drive on. Don't get me wrong though I am very happy with any loss at all just thought it would maybe be a tad bit faster. I thank the Lord everyday that I have had no complications so far... well other than a nasty yeast infection from the super duper antibotics I received right before my operation... and the UTI that I got after the yeast infection hehe. Thank you Lord that there is only small problems. :)
Congrats to all that have gotten their operations and Good luck to all that are soon to come!!! :)

Hiya everyone... I know it has been a while since I posted.. just been very busy with everyday life. Well I hit my first plateau!! I was in it for two weeks.. was very discouraged but I hung in there and then all of a sudden I lost 4 pounds in 2 days.. and a total of 6 in one week. Whew is all I could think of saying when that happened. Anyway I am 5 weeks out and down 32 pounds!! It may be slower than others but hey it is still weight lost!!
I wish well to everyone and take care all. Will try to do better with posting in the future :)
June 10, 2006
Oh boy is this going slllooowww!!! I keep hitting plateaus.. dunno why but my doc seems to be ok with what I have lost and in the time that I have lost it. Almost 2 months out and down 37 pounds. If I could just get the energy to get out there and do some more physical activities I think it would go much faster! Twice I have hit plateaus .. once at about 2-3 weeks out and now again from 5 to 6 weeks out.. but have started loosing again just gotta try to keep it up.
Take care all!! :)

Hi :) A little over 2 months out and down 44 pounds.. all is going great :)
July 13, 2006
Hiya everyone!!! Well today is my 3 month post op!!! I am happy to say that as of today I have lost 50 pounds! I still haven't had any major problems (Thank you Lord). Saw my NUT yesterday and she seems to think that I am doing just fine other than not getting in enough calories. She wants me to try to eat every two hours... ummm probably not going to happen is what I told her.. so she asked if I thought I could squeeze in every four hours... hmm not so sure but I can try hehe. Anyway she was great ... one of the nicest NUTs I have ever come into contact with.
Take care all and gratz to all that has just been approved and good luck to those that are waiting to be approved.
August 26, 2006
Well.. still losing slow but all of my docs including my NUT think that is for the better. At 4 months out I am down 59 pounds. I have started exercising more often and am going to start going to the gym this Monday. All the kids are in school now so it makes an easier trip for me to do it while they are in school. And with them being in school.. my youngest one started this year... I walk her to and from school (exceptions are the VERY hot afternoons.. I drive up there to pick her up) which is 3 miles ( on hot days I still get in the morning walk for 1 1/2 mile).
Take care all :)
