Surgeon Testimonial

Jon L. Schram, M.D., F.A.C.S.
He is knowledgeable and kind at my consultation.

My husband had him for surgery in July of 2008, and I was impressed that he actually prayed with him prior to surgery. It was nice.

Aftercare is important. 3 week, 6 week checkups, as well as bloodwork and lab work at 3 months, 6months, 9 months and a year. I went with my hubby for his checkups and Dr. Schram included me as family in the aftercare. He is very thorough.

I would rate him a 10 out of 10 stars. He is competent, and kind.

No negatives to share about him. I have yet to go through aftercare or surgery, that is in about 3 days!

Hi, and thank you, Stacey for sending warm wishes my way. Update: I had rny laproscopically at the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti Michigan on March 30th. I had a rough time in the hospital with pain meds. Morphine gave me the dry heaves and the room was spinning, same with liquid Vicodin. I finally did ok on darvacit, but it made me nauseous to have to swallow a pill. Plus I had so much bloating and gas that they had to give me 2 suppositories and an enema before I felt better. I am home now, taking my pain meds and getting in all my protein goals and fluid goals, walking, sipping and breathing a lot, and it helps with the pain and gas. Thank you for caring. I know I am new to the boards, but just wanted to check out Obesityhelp.com as I heard it is a very good source of information from a friend on the Barix boards.

Well it has been almost 4 months since surgery...
on July 26, 2009 8:33 am

And I am glad to report, I no longer have acid reflux eating away at my voicebox and aggravating my asthma; in fact, I don't even have to take medicines for it anymore.

My asthma is finally under control, no more wheezing or hacking cough, and I don't need the nebulizer and don't use my emergency inhaler anymore. Oh, I keep it on hand, but I am managing my asthma with 1 puff of a controller inhaler morning and night.

I am exercising at the gym 5-7 days a week! OMG! I NEVER would have done this prior to WLS! 3 days of weight bearing exercises and 3-4 of cardio.

I have gone from a size 22P to a 14P and lost 24" all over my body, 12" were off my rump alone!
I am down 42 lbs and feel AMAZING!

I have run into people that I knew before my WLS who don't even recognize me... In fact, the lady at the bank said to me, "You are going to have to have a name tag when you come in here because you look so different every time I see you that I hardly recognize you!"

Here is a before and "still in progress" photo:
