Hi everyone! My name is Mayra Cardenas. I am 21 y/o and I'm from Brownsville, TX (the very bottom tip of Texas). I'm excited about my new journey and can't wait to start meeting new people! ♥
I know its late writing my first blog since i had the surgery about 2 months ago but i guess its never too late to start something. Well i would just like to say that it has been 2 months since my surgery and to date i have lost 44lbs. It is a journey that no matter how long i thought i could prepare for, i would never REALLY know what i was getting myself into. I regretted having the surgery the moment i woke up from the surgery and whenever i feel sick. but i remind myself how good i feel now and i know that i would not have traded it for the world. I am now truly happy and i know that there is alot more work ahead. Lots of love and support.
Well i come from a family of very very skinny people. My parents didn't start gaining weight until later in their marriage. I started gaining weight around the time I was 10 y/o. My mother always tried helping me lose weight by taking me to the nutritionist, going to the gym, starting diets, and taking me to diabetic seminars. Well nothing worked I was getting worse. I entered high school and joined the dance team. I felt good dancing but I was always very self-concious of the leotards and jazz pants knowing that I was the biggest girl on my team. The summer before my junior year in high school I joined a gym and went to it religiously. I started watching what I ate and lost about 25-30 lbs. I went back to school and everyone was congratulating me. Senior year started and I gained the weight back. When i graduated i got accepted to Baylor University the fall of my freshman year i lost ALOT of weight. My parents couldn't recognize me and i didn't have my clothes that fit me. As the years progressed i started partying more, sleeping late, eating way late and i gained the weight back plus some. I moved back home about 2 years ago and i have only been gaining weight since. I have now reached my limit 230 lbs 5'2" and my dad suggested WLS because a doctor he spoke to recommended it. since then it was been the start of a journey to the rest of my life and i couldn't be more excited.
