Who am I
on December 23, 2006 7:39 pm
I am a 40 year old man who has battled a weight problem my whole life. I don't think "thin" since I was 9 years old...well maybe 10. I have a wonderful supportive family, and friends namely Edilia Romero and Dawn Brancaccio. I was at the point in my life where it was getting harder to accept myself. I was excited, and yet nervous about this whole thing. I new deep down inside everything would go just fine. I am looking forward to being healthier and yes a bit thinner and mostly.. A lot happier.

My Story

UPDATE: November 28, 2000. Well I'm down to 260 lbs..  By the way, I am size 44. You know life is full of new experiences as my new body is taking shape. Not more than 3 months ago the largest size for me was size 52.  And I had to squeeze in some styles. I've shopped in Marshall's and Ross and looked in the big man's sizes.  I do not need to do that any more. My goal is to hit 250 by Christmas, we shall see :). Talk to all of you later.

UPDATE: January 9, 2001. Happy New Year! Everything is still going well for me. I'm down to 250 lbs. now.  Only 35 lbs. away from my goal.  You know what? I'll make it.  Talk to you next month.

UPDATE: Feb. 9, 2001. Hey, how is everyone? Well, I'm still doing fine and still losing pounds.  Until next time, have a nice day.  Talk to you in a month. Bye:)

UPDATE: March 9, 2001. I'm still doing very well, down to 235 lbs., have lost 112 lbs. and I feel very good.  I workout 5 days a week, and just got a personal trainer.  I'll be training 3 days a week with my personal trainer.  It gets better everyday. I have a new picture coming. See ya!

UPDATE: April 9, 2001. I'm still on the go, down another 6 lbs.

UPDATE: May 9, 2001. Well I'm still doing well with my weight, however, I loss my mother on April 24th. She had been sick for a long time, 8 years, but you know we are not ready for anything like this to happen at anytime. I like to thank everyone that sent me email and cards.  Your kindness and thoughtfulness brought a blessing to my entire family during our time of sorrow. And for those of you that could come and came, thank you.  Please accept my humble, thankful heart. I pray that God blesses you.

Remember back in January when I had only 35 lbs. to go before I achieve my goal?  LOL.  At that time my goal was 215 lbs., however, God has bless me and my weight is now 207 lbs. WOW!!  What can I say. Not only that, by the time I have my other surgery, I will be under 200 lbs.  What a blessing.

UPDATE: October 09, 2001 This month was really something, as you can see I've lose 7 lbs.  Well it goes up and down.  One day its 6 lbs. and the next day its 7 lbs.  This Friday is my surgery date, I'm getting a abdominoplasty.  I'll let you know what it's all about the next time I talk to you. Until then, see ya.

UPDATE: November 9, 2001 Well I'm back, as you know I had my other surgery (Abdominoplasty) on October 11, 2001. I was scheduled at 7:30 am on Thursday morning. I arrived at the hospital at 6:30 a.m. As soon as I arrived, I was asked to strip and then was given a gown. The nurse started an IV drip then around 6:55 a.m. I was wheeled in to the operating room and moved on the operating table.  After that I don't remember anything else until I was moved to my room at 3:00 p.m.

The next day (Friday) I got up to sit in a chair and I was a weak.  It was difficult getting up, however, I did it.  Everyday after that was much easier.  On Saturday morning my surgeons came in to see how I was doing, I asked questions like how much weight did you remove?  He told me that they measure in ml but they removed somewhere between 6-7 pounds. WOW.

On Sunday morning I got up and walked around the unit and then sat in a chair for 5 hours.  My Dr. come in and removed one of the drains and said I would be able to go home on Monday, October 15th and needed to come back on Friday, October 19th to remove the other drain. He also wanted to know when the drain stops draining before Friday.  Well it did on Wednesday, October 17th so I had it removed.

I had another office visit with one of the surgeons on Monday, October 29, 2001 she was very pleased with the surgery.  The scars looked good. So she set up another office visit for December 17, 2001.

Today's date is November 9th and everything is looking and going great for me.  The swelling has subsided and no serious complications.  I can now say that this was all worth it.

I wear an abdominal binder during the day, it keeps the swelling to a minimum and supports the incisions for another month or so.  I'm trying to wear the binder at night, I'm not quite used to it. As you can see my recovery is going very smooth, thank God. Until next time, God Bless.

When I started preparing for the surgery.  I was approximately 205 pounds.
