Hi everyone! My name is Andrea I am 22 years old and I had gastiric  bypass surgery on December 29, 2006. I hope to meet nice people that are either going through or have gone through this life changing procedure. Im excited, but I would be lying if I said that I wasn't scared at the same time. I'm grateful I've made friends on here so far I am looking forward to making new friends!

MY STEPS

***LIQUID DIET PRE-OP***
So my surgery is scheduled for December 29th 2006 and Im on the liquid diet.  It's hard, especially because its during the holidays and we all know what happens during the holidays!! :)
I've been VERY tempted to eat along with everyone else, SO tempted, that last night I had a dream that I was eating alot, I mean, stuffing my face!!
I constantly think about food that I like and that I want, I KNOW i have to make this sacrifice for my own good.
Im really excited about the surgery and scared too.

***DECEMBER 22, 2006***
The fact that Im having surgery in 7 days hasn't really hit me yet, I've already lost 7 pounds from my liquid diet, That's seven pounds in seven days...Not bad.
It hasn't been easy, I havent cheated and Im not planning to.

I don't know how Im going to do this liquid diet for another week!! I've been trying different things so I dont get tired of just one thing.

I REALLY don't like the protien shakes AT ALL!! So I have a technique...While Im drinking the protien, I plug my nose, I dont taste a thing and I have a little cup of orange juice right next to me so I can wash down the nasty taste before I unplug my nose.. I know there's ALOT of different protien shakes out there and I still have to try them to find one that I like, but meanwhile this nose plugging technique is getting me through the shakes for now.

Everyone is bieng very supportive of me which HELPS ALOT. Thank you to all of my friends and family for being there and ALSO thank you to the friends I've made on this website, YOU dont know how much you've already helped me with just telling me your stories and giving me advice.

You know what else helps me alot? Since Im so stressed out about the surgery It helps to do other things to get your mind off of it sometimes. Go to the movies, treating myself to a massage, getting my nails done, walking around the mall (we should be walking anyway right?)

Im going to get all of the vitamins I need for post-op today because I dont want to wait until the last minute.

Oh man!

***DECEMBER 23, 2006***
And then there was ISOPURE....Thank you Lord Jesus Christ!!! No more nose plugging!!

***JANUARY 2, 2006***
Im 4 days post op and Im feeling pretty good for the most part...I've been trying to walk as much as I can and drink as many fluids as I can which is not so easy but I know that when I put my mind to something Im gonna do it.
As of right now Im very motivated and I hope to stay that way Im starting off the new year on the right foot. It wont be easy but I know I deserve this for myself. My surgery went well...As expected, the first day I wasn't feeling so hot ..as each day passed I feel better and better. Thank you EVERYONE for all of your continued support because it helps more than anyone can imagine! Im still on liquids (not hungry at all) and I'll keep everyone posted.

***JANUARY 12, 2007***
Two days ago they took out my staples. I was very happy about that, I thought it was going to hurt (I was freaking out) Seriously It was NOTHING! haha
However, I told the Dr. that I've been getting cramps in my legs, and right away he got worried and sent me to get it checked out (he thought it might be blood clots) Thankfully it wasn't. It could be that I need to stretch before I walk (I've been walking every day) or that I need more fluids, or more potassium. So Im doing all three!
Another good thing is that Im not on liquids anymore...FINALLY!! It's been a whole month and now Im able to eat soft things like scrambled egg, tuna with crackers, apple sauce, stuff like that. Which is great!! As far as protien though, remember how I fell in LOVE with Isopure above...Well I dont feel the same way post-op. (which they told me that my taste buds would change) So far I HATE all the protien drinks I've tried, I got a sampler pack to try more, so we'll see how that goes! At least Im getting in some protien with my foods now though (Not enough).
I'll keep everyone posted.

***FEBRUARY 10, 2007***
My boyfriend and I just celebrated our 3 year anniversary on tuesday which was really nice...He's really starting to notice a difference in me (personality, mood, looks) He was really scared about this whole thing but I think he's getting adjusted. So I've taken on a liking to Avocado which is really wierd because I never used to like it the way I do now. Im a month and over two weeks post-op and already lost 32 pounds! I feel great and I've been walking for about an hour a day. Still struggling with protien intake though...

OH YEAH!! I WILL BE AT THE OH CONFERENCE IN BAKERSFIELD ON FEBRUARY 24th 2007...LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE GOING (ANYONE READING THIS) SO I CAN SEE YOU THERE!!!! :)

***MARCH 1, 2007***

I got to meet Jackie Guerra (speaker) SEE>>IMG_0275.jpgand come to find out we had the same surgeon!! Her lecture really motivated me too...Something flew in my eye (ok, ok I cried a little) All the speakers had thier own stories which really hit me.
