My first impression of Dr. K. was "how odd"! He wears these bow ties and that just struck me as funny because our daughter's nickname while in utero was Bow Tie. Family story . . .

My impression didn't change. I still think it's odd, but it is endearing and quirky and so much his style!

Dr. K's staff is fantastic and helpful. Certain people are more helpful than others, but they have been where I am and they just 'get it'.

I can't think of anything that I didn't like about Dr. K

Dr. K does have a structured aftercare program, but I do not utilize it. I flew from Indiana to have surgery with him and I can't fly to California every time I need to see him. I have found someone more local to do my aftercare, but that wasn't because I didn't want to utilize his program. It was totally logistics.

Dr. K didn't try and diminish the risks of the surgery itself, he just wasn't concerned about the risks for me. I was relatively healthy and my co-morbidities weren't severe yet. He said I would come through with flying colors and I did.

I would give Dr. K a very high rating and encourage anyone who is considering him to look no further. He very well may be the perfect man.

His surgical competence is incomparable and so is his bedside manner. He is truly fantastic.

Back in Bakersfield after my ds. I decided to advance myself to to a soft foods diet and have been eating eggs the last 2 days. I'm really enjoying them and applesauce right now. I'm going to take off to the healthfood store and buy some protein, as I'm just not getting enough with an egg or 2 a day. Thanks for all the well wishes! Danielle

I hope everything goes as planned and that you have a speedy recovery. Some words of advice: Please remember to keep positive thoughts at all times. When in doubt – ASK! Keep records of everything, including photos (makes a great scrapbook that you can look back on when you reach goal) and please keep your journal updated because you never know whom you might be helping. You will be in my thoughts. ~ Kelly

My Story

I have been married to my wonderful husband since 1996.  Between us we have 5 children, 3 living & 2 have already gone on to be with God. Our children are Josh (died @ the age of 14 from cancer), Matt, Brian, Bailey (stillborn), and Jessica, the absolute light of our lives.  I also have 2 grandsons . . . Braden & Landen.

I enjoy scrapbooking, stamping, selling candles, travelling (ecspecially cruising), meeting new people, jet skiing, and horseback riding.

I started my weight loss journey in the spring of 2005. I was able to have my surgery relative quickly in July of 2005. I have done exceptionally well, but have noticed that my boredom eating has returned.

I have discovered that I like cheeto's now and never did before surgery. That is not a good thing.

My starting weight was 336 and my goal weight was 136.  I am currently about 6 pounds under goal.  I am hoping to undergo plastic surgery sometime in 2007, but who knows.

I love to talk about my surgery and hope to be able to meet some fellow patients in the near future!
