Surgeon Testimonial

Watson Roye, Jr, M.D.
I just couldn't get over the concern and the time he spent with me. He just explained everything in detail. He didn't push it off on the nurse. rnI still think that he was what the good Lord had in mind for me having the surgery. The Lord closed a window and opened the gate when I found Dr. Roye. His whole staff was just great. I had all the information I needed in what to do before the surgery and the support that will be needed after the surgery. Including the Support Group that was the next day and I went met a lot of nice people. rnI haven't found anything that I would like least because everything is so positive.rnHe knows what he is doing and he cares. He stresses aftercare and staying on your diet and the support group. He explained the risks of the surgery and made sure that I understand them. I have several medical problems and one of them is DVTs (live long) and I do understand that moving around will keep them from forming. He was for me a God send. I now know about the surgical competence (but I hear so many good things about him) or the bedside manner yet. I had my surgery Wednesday 4-16-08 and I was home that afternoon and when I saw him before surgery, he was very upbeat and when I saw him after surgery, he was still upbeat. His bedside manner was good for me. I did have an issue with my insulin and called his office but I also called my PCP and my questions were answer, by my PCP. His office didnn't call back, they were probably busy. I got it taken care of and that is what matters.

4-23-08 Insulin has been decreased again. Suppose to monitor blood sugars til Friday and give report to doctor again. I am so proud that the blood sugars are soooo good.

Insulins have been decreased. Getting out and doing a little something. Walking, walking, walking.

It's been 7 months and I am down 65 lbs, I gained muscle so I didn't hit my goal of 70 lbs weight loss, but I do need the muscle at my maturity (hehe) that is what I was told.  He should have said "age".  I am still very happy with the loss.

As of today, I am down 76 pounds and will be getting off my diabetic meds in June 2009.  I have more energy and doing a lot of things that I hadn't had the energy to do.  Trying to keep up with the grandkids.

As of today my A1C was 5.7 and I was taken off one of my diabetes medicine and a lower dose of the other one.  Great Day!  If I lose more weight in three months I will not be taking any!

Well, today, I went to see Dr. Graham.  I thought I had lost 50 pounds but I didn't.  I was disappointed but, I will get over it.  I lost 48 pounds and my goal was to lose 50 pounds. Dr. Graham said that I was doing great just for being 5 months out.  I had a fill and I have to return in one month.  Maybe by then it will be 50 pounds.

My Story

I am a female age 59.  I have been obese for a very long time.  I started with a Weight Loss Doctor in November 2007 and had all tests done and then had a scheduled date for Gastric Bypass for February 25, 2008 but it didn't work out.  Their office called and cancelled due to corporate decision (2-22-08) and was going to rescheduled (said it would be weeks and weeks).  Went to all support groups, dietition classes (which were great).  I am Type 2 diabetic and NEVER went to a dietition before in my life.  I have DJD, (have two knee replacements) I have a metal rod in my back, High Blood Pressure.  I started with a weight of 320, BMI 51.2.  I had started eating like I would if I had Lap Band surgery 3-14-08 and as of 4-11-08, I had lost down to 312, which I am very proud.
Due to other things that happened with that Weight Loss Doctor, I in turned, found a second one,  Dr. Watson Roye ( the Good Lord was watching over this situation) I found a great doctor and another support system, plus the support of this web site.  I want to change my life for me.  I want to watch all my grandkids grow up and be the person they want to be and I want to be able to support them in any endeavors they do. I get so tired of not being able to go to the parks and watch them play, because it is hard to move with this weight and I should have done this surgery a long time ago.  Being able to sit in regular chairs, bend down and tie your shoes, and getting up without the strain.  April 16, 2008 will be the first day of my new life and so looking forward to it.
