Surgeon TestimonialWatson Roye, Jr, M.D.I just couldn't get over the concern and the time he spent with me. He just explained everything in detail. He didn't push it off on the nurse.
I still think that he was what the good Lord had in mind for me having the surgery. The Lord closed a window and opened the gate when I found Dr. Roye. His whole staff was just great. I had all the information I needed in what to do before the surgery and the support that will be needed after the surgery. Including the Support Group that was the next day and I went met a lot of nice people.
I haven't found anything that I would like least because everything is so positive.
He knows what he is doing and he cares. He stresses aftercare and staying on your diet and the support group. He explained the risks of the surgery and made sure that I understand them. I have several medical problems and one of them is DVTs (live long) and I do understand that moving around will keep them from forming. He was for me a God send. I now know about the surgical competence (but I hear so many good things about him) or the bedside manner yet. I had my surgery Wednesday 4-16-08 and I was home that afternoon and when I saw him before surgery, he was very upbeat and when I saw him after surgery, he was still upbeat. His bedside manner was good for me. I did have an issue with my insulin and called his office but I also called my PCP and my questions were answer, by my PCP. His office didnn't call back, they were probably busy. I got it taken care of and that is what matters.

Here it is over 4 months post op and I am doing so good. I am down 45 pounds and lots and lots of inches. I am wearing size 22 clothes and that has been such a long time for that size. I am exercising 3-4 times a week at water aerobics and that has built up my strength and my health. I am off of insulin and back on oral medications for my diabetes, my djd pain has almost stopped completely and most of all my eating has changed to basically asking myself before I put it in my mouth is this healthy or should I pick something different. I have more energy and I am taking walks with my four year granddaughter pretty often. My seventeen year old grandson told me that I look great (he hadn't seen me in a month). This is the smallest that he has ever seen me in his lifetime. I just hope and pray that all this continues for me. I just love what I am doing now and wish I had the surgery sooner.
No Exercise this week on August 19, 2008 7:32 am
This has been the worse week for me. I haven't been able to go to water aerobics and this will last all week. It is raining and they won't let you get in the water if it is raining. I really miss it. I miss the people. It is fun and I will have to find something else to do this week. I guess I can walk around the local Wal Mart or grocery store. If I do that, it will be boring but it is exercise. I want to be down 50 pounds when I go back to the doctor's office Sept. 15. It is a goal and I want to make that goal. I have done well since I had the surgery and I just want this more than ever. I don't know what I want to prove but it is a goal I want to achieve. My life is improving with my health and I don't won't to miss this goal. It is a milestone for me. I guess I am afraid that I want go back to water aerobics, if I get out of the habit. I just have my fears right now. Oh well, God made the rain and I know he knows what he is doing. With him in my heart, I know I can do anything.

Met Doctor Graham on August 6, 2008 12:12 pm
I met the new doctor and I had lost 12 pounds from my last visit with Dr. Roye. I am soooo proud. Dr. Graham said I was losing like the RNY...I know that won't last but I am happy right now. I haven't been this weight since before the 1990's. I just can't express how I feel right now. My health is better, I can walk further and I can stand longer and have much more energy. I enjoy going to water aerobics and I am having so much fun. I realize that I am not alone.

Going back to Doctor August 6, 2008 on August 3, 2008 11:45 am
It is August 3, 2008
Went on vacation and got back July 31st and son had surgery on 8-1-08. I haven't been able to exercise like I normally do for about two weeks. I go and see the new surgeon (Dr. Roye went to Amarillo) Dr. Andre Graham and I don't think I have lost very much weight. I didn't get to exercise the week before I left on vacation because I was helping other people because they have no one around here to help them. I don't mind helping out, don't get me wrong, but I will be in control of all this next time. I will help in the early afternoon and leave the mornings for my exercising. My diet on vacation wasn't like I do at home. I DID eat healthy because my cousin's wife is very devoted in her diet and everyone has to eat her way, whether you won't to or not. I have never been around anyone that does it her way, she is not that way visiting me. Had a good time and saw the movie Mamma Mia, loved the movie.

JULY 15, 2008 on July 15, 2008 2:50 pm
Just got results for my A1C from my doctor and it was 8.9 in April 08 (before surgery) and now it is 7.1, my doctor wasn't expecting it to go down that much and neither was I and he told me that he wasn't going to get upset over it because of my weight loss and changing from insulin to oral medications and he was very excited that it went down so much.

I am going to water aerobics this morning and I have a new swimsuit. I bought it for my aunt but she is too scared of the water and wouldn't go to water aerobics, after one time, and she gave me her suit and tried it on this morning and it fits. That is I am down four sizes since my surgery and boy I am HAPPY. The suit looks good on me, too...hehehe
Also, weighed this morning and down 2 more pounds. God is good and so is life.

My Story
I am a female age 59. I have been obese for a very long time. I started with a Weight Loss Doctor in November 2007 and had all tests done and then had a scheduled date for Gastric Bypass for February 25, 2008 but it didn't work out. Their office called and cancelled due to corporate decision (2-22-08) and was going to rescheduled (said it would be weeks and weeks). Went to all support groups, dietition classes (which were great). I am Type 2 diabetic and NEVER went to a dietition before in my life. I have DJD, (have two knee replacements) I have a metal rod in my back, High Blood Pressure. I started with a weight of 320, BMI 51.2. I had started eating like I would if I had Lap Band surgery 3-14-08 and as of 4-11-08, I had lost down to 312, which I am very proud.
Due to other things that happened with that Weight Loss Doctor, I in turned, found a second one, Dr. Watson Roye ( the Good Lord was watching over this situation) I found a great doctor and another support system, plus the support of this web site. I want to change my life for me. I want to watch all my grandkids grow up and be the person they want to be and I want to be able to support them in any endeavors they do. I get so tired of not being able to go to the parks and watch them play, because it is hard to move with this weight and I should have done this surgery a long time ago. Being able to sit in regular chairs, bend down and tie your shoes, and getting up without the strain. April 16, 2008 will be the first day of my new life and so looking forward to it.
