Surgeon Testimonial

Thomas Clark
My first impression of Dr. Clark is that he truly cares about his patients and wants us to become healthier and happier people. He outlines all the risks and benefits and will answer any question you have. He stresses that aftercare is extremely important to our success after WLS. So far I am extremely pleased with him and the WLS program is very well organized. His office staff are friendly and professional and always there for you when you have a question or a problem. rnrnDr. Clark, is one of the BEST Surgeons. Low Complication rates, Successful patients, fantastic support team. Awesome office staff. He doesn't to Laproscopic, but he makes the timiest 3 1/2 inch incison. He's awesome. Can't recommend a better surgeon. Come to VA to have your Surgery with Dr. Clark!!!

Hi Jane, I just want to thank you for your candid posts and for the photos that you've so graciously shared with all of us. I'm having an abdominal lipectomy in two days and it's given me a true view of what I can expect. Hope you are feeling better about your surgery. I'll bet that they're right and that once your swelling has subsided you'll be very satisfied. Thanks again, Julie

80 Pounds Gone
on January 30, 2005 12:00 am
Well, I'm now -80 pounds. I saw several people over the weekend that I had not seen since October. Some of them didn't recognize me. I guess I can take that as a compliment.
My mom had her cancer debulking surgery on Friday. They couldn't get all of the tumor because it was wrapped around the aorta of her stomach and they were worried about bleeding. Let's hope chemo and radiation can get rid of it. She's in a special cancer ICU unit until probally tommorrow. Hopefully the pathology report will give us good news. The doc thinks she has a rare type of tumor but it's easier to treat and the survival rate is much better. I'm praying that it is this type of tumor and not the other kind.

Scales are the Real Enemy!
on January 19, 2005 12:00 am
It's seems as if my scale is broken (LOL). Everytime I get on in the thing it tells me something different. Today I dropped 6 pounds according to scale which is WAYYYY WRONGGGG! So, I hope the roads are clear tommorrow because I'm going down to WLSC to get weighed on the official scale. Then I'm going to Bed, Bath & Beyond and get a Tanita Scale, which are supposed to be the best. This 19.95 model sucks! So, I'm gonna half to change my weight chart, I sure hope I don't gain too much, it's too depressing to even think about. At least I'm loosing inches, I got into a regular (Not stretch) pair of size 20 jeans which run small. I'm determined to be in a size 18 by the Valentines Day. I can already wear a Size 16 dress that I wore at my brother's wedding 10 years ago, so that makes me much happier.
On a sad note, my mom is having her cancer and lymph node removal next Friday. I'm really scared for her. Ovarian Cancer is such a scary thing. I don't know what I would do without my mom. She's always been there for me when I needed help or a hug. Pray is all I can do.

Stalled out, Yikes
on January 16, 2005 12:00 am
I'm on stall with weight loss right now and I really just need the scale to give me a pound or two. I started working out and I'm sure that's why. My body is catching up to the strain I am putting it through. I going to Curves every other day and on my off day I walk at least 2 miles and do resistance training and sit-ups. I really want to make that -100 by March 1st and it's not gonna happen for me. So I'm shooting for -100 on April 1st instead. I'm doing all the right things, so I know that it will come off.

Here's what I'm eating at 4 months out

B-Soy Protein Shake or Protein Bar or Yogurt
S-Cheese & Crackers and a slice of lunchmeat
L-Salads with either Grilled Chicken or Ham & Egg.
S-Smoked Almonds
D-A Lean Meat with a veggie and complex carb like brown rice.
S-Yogurt or Baked Chips & Salsa
