So, I've been MIA....

Jan 21, 2009

I really have been around more than it appears from the condition of my blog. Things have been busy and crazy and just downright hectic since the holidays started and ended.

Let's see...first xmas came and went...I couldn't be happier about that. I am seriously considering skipping the "holidays" altogether next year. We really celebrate the winter solstice anyway, so foregoing the standard buy-fest wouldn't be such a bad thing.

Damon's grandmother came to live with his parents and promptly broke her wrist. That healed and then she promptly broke her hip. She never made it home from the hospital. After a month of quiet and blissfully medicated slumber, she passed on January 12. The funeral was this past Sunday, January 18.
Lena was 90 years old, had lead a wonderful, full life, and was clearly ready to move on. She will be greatly missed by her 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren (three of which are ours).

In other news...nothing. There is really nothing happening...nothing with my weigh, health, or anything else important. I do have my 2 year check-up on February 6, so I will have my labs drawn at weeks end. Of course I am hoping that everything is where it should be, however I won't be surprised if it's not. I haven't exactly been the poster child for consistency with my supplements lately...though I am always striving to do better, be better.
Actually, now that I am writing, I do have to confess that some bad habits seem to be attempting to rear their ugly heads. Things like eating until I am overly full (a feeling which I actually hate!!), and eating too much, too late at night. I have always been a night owl, and I'm okay with that part...but eating too much food late at night is not okay. I need to sort these issues out before they bring me trouble. The silver lining to all of this is that my weight is holding steady without much effort on my part. Obviously that silver lining can easily tarnish if I'm not mindful of my choices.
In addition, something strange did happen...I went from a comfy size 4 to a perfect size 2....without any weight change. It was exciting at first...but then it just became a hassle overnight. Trying to find a size 2 in anything decent sucks hard. Levis fit best so long as they aren't made of any kind of stretchy denim. But, regular stores don't often carry size 2. The only places I have been able to find my size in Levis is TJ Maxx, Ross, or Marshall's. Great for the pocketbook (yay!!!), not so great for selection or availability (boo!!!!). I guess my problems could be worse. If I get really desperate for clothes that fit, I can always gain some weight. :o( My head and heart don't like the sound of that at all.

Okay, so on to school happenings. *chirp-chirp* Hear the crickets?? NOTHING is happening there. I am waiting for more testing and to apply at springs end for the FALL semester months, and months away. The California school system sucks ass!!! I so wish we could just pick up and move to the east coast right. this. second. I would if I could. In the meantime....I wait...as usual.
