I remember going on my first medically supervised diet when I was 9 years old. Since then I have been dieting on and off. Losing and gaining weight for the last 30 years. I am 6'1 so I have always been able to carry more weight than most and "pull it off", but I have always been about 40-50 lbs overweight. In Feb. 2007 I was in a very bad car accident. As a result of the accident, I had a couple of surgeries, was off work for almost 1 year, and in constant pain up until about 1 1/2 years ago. I have recovered from the accident, however, since the accident I have gained about 60 lbs bringing me to my heaviest weight ever. I started researching bariatric surgery a couple of years ago after several failed attempts to get the weight off and the realization that I didn't want to live the rest of my life going up and down and fat! I started the surgery process one time before but decided I would try and do it on my own. Just this last year I made the decision to have surgery again. Originally I was looking at Lap Band and then decided that VSG was the best for me. It's been a long road getting to the point of approval and surgery. A road that I think is important we all go down as it helps us to really think about the surgery. I had surgery on Friday, July 29th.
